Ok, i have been reading up on changing the belt via search + can't find any mention of the 'push-pull' tool that is used to setup the tensioner, before checking belt tension, according to workshop manual.

Is there a simpler way to tension belt correctly?

I just guessed and then let the tensioner go.

Yea, but I have worked on machinery for the last 10 years, so fitted a few belts to things in my time.

The auto tensioner puts the final push on the belt. Theres a distance of 5mm ( I think) that the tensioner spigot is spose to stick out.

Its the previous page - bit 11 that got me bothered, as i dont have the tool ?

Well, thats why I just did it by hand and made sure the tensioner was between 3.5 - 5.2mm.

 

Unless you can borrow a tool, I would expect they cost loads to buy.
