Adter such an immense weekend, my heart has litterally sank when i got home tonight!

I got to Berwick-Upon-Tweed (30 miles from home) and my zed wouldnt boost past 0.1bar!!!!! Ok, so i thought to myself "It'll be a boost leak. I'll drive home, taking it easy and fix it in the morning."

UNTIL I GOT HOME!!!!

So, having taken it easy for the past 30 minutes (no +ve boost because of the "boost leak") i got home and turned the engine off.

Then i heard something rattling and coming to a halt, My mate Dean, who was down at JAE with me, is a mechanic for nissan but he thinks that it sounds too "tinny" to be a knackered turbo.

So anyway, my question is.........

What keeps spinning once the engine has been turned off?

Aux or viscous fan?

Whichever one is standard!

An aftermarket on is still on my "Shopping List"!!!

Check the aux fan (one on the front of the rad) doesnt have a bit missing or something. Mine had a chunk missing and sounded like a plane.

Well, i've been out and had a look.

Ive checked all the hoses......none of them were loose.

I went out for a quick spin, warmed it up and tried to get into boost......NOTHING.

No positive pressure and there is a grinding noise coming from where the passenger side turbo sits.

Totally gutted!

Boost not going into positive territory often means a seized turbo ! :(

Thats what i was worried about. But i can hear something grinding after i switch the engine off.

your tubbies are new from z1 arent they?

Yeah, i got them just before chrismas. Not happy if it is. They have only done about 6000 miles.

Gonna have to look out the paper work an check what the terms of the warrenty are. Beit.....12 months or a limited mileage.
