Would i be right in thinking that if the standard ECU is kept, a map can be written for a certain set of upgrades.

Is it possible to get a map for your specific car and if so hows this done, without going to a stand alone or piggy back system.

Also is adding 740s a good idea or would ppl stick to 555's?

Cheers,

I believe Danny@DTA can do custom ecu maps to your specific upgrades.. It's worth asking him :)

Yep, 99.96734 % of modified Zed's run a remapped stock ECU, rather than standalone.

John Dixon is the most experienced stock ECU Mapper, and can offer different options. AndyP and Danny@DTA also offer their own chips.

The bigger injectors the better tbh, you give yourself more of a safety margin for future upgrades. Most people stick to 555's becuase they have the earlier style fuel rails (89-94) that prevent them going any larger without spending out more money on newer few rails. Yours being a 96 does'nt have this problem.

You will need to replace your ECU with an earlier version though as the later style can not be mapped. Not a problem though, you dont lose out on anything.

The larger injector you go for, the more difficult it is to get the low end / tickover right. 555's are a good compromise, but obviously if you want to make enormous horsepower, then tickover is unlikely to bother you.

Cheers guys, Not sure i got across what i mean't correctly.

Totally understand that a map for a standard ECU can be written, but don't these tend to be a one size fits all map.

Does John etc make one to match the cars own characteristic or is it a set of average valves of the capacities of the equipment you have.

John will map you on a rolling road.

Most other chips are jsut guess work based on other cars that have been mapped with those upgrades. Every car is different and performs differently regardless if the mods are the same.

A custom map on a rolling road is always the best option if you can get it.

But then I've been trying to get John to map my car for a while now, he's a very busy man and has a family and a project of his own so his time is sparse (or he just doesn't like me one or the two :) )

Yes, John can provide a chip based on the modifications you have, and I know he can map it to your car using his wide band o2 sensor...and/or set it up on a Booked rolling road session. Best to drop him a PM and see what he suggests.

Thats what i wanted to hear!

Legrath: do you know if SWZ have any slicktop shells, nothing with them just the shell?

Cheers,

Yes, they've just sold 2 Slicktop shells, and have 1 left.

A red one. Originally an NA. Needs Paintwork.

No Engine, No Drivetrain, No Brakes. Has Interior.

£500 I believe.

I think i have seen it before, would be ideal for what i want, do you think he'd be open to offers, i've had a hard time getting hold of him!

Well he did tell me that he wasn't keen on Stew, though I suposee he could have been saying Stu :rofl:. Ya soppy git you should know better than anyone how demanding a new Baby/Todler is on your time.

You are correct and like its been said each car is different so to get the best out of your mods a proper rolling road map is the best way to go and JD is the best person to do that for you. However the Chips supplied by all the above are burnt with a fair amount of safety tollerence in them and the car would run well enough and safe enough until JD could sort you out.

He's been away since last weekend, coming back this saturday I think. Maybe, depens if there was anything else you did'nt want with the car that he would keep...etc

Just the shell, has to be a slicktop, needs the windows, suspension and wheels would be a bonus for moving it lol, don't need anything else though as i have most of it. I'm very interested anyhow!
