Since I bought my Z I barely drive this car...it´s most of the time (sometimes weeks sitting on the garage) I only drove it like twice on a long trip; when I was at the Nissan dealer they told me this is not good for these type of cars..since they need to be driven on the highway in order to give the turbos life and engine also.

I have never driven many long trips since I am in a way maybe wrong thinking that driving much kms might be bad for the engine and the car..the less I drive it the better I will keep it...maybe I am wrong..I think in a way that these type of cars need to be sometimes dirven on the highway and long distance.

You guys are much more experts..driving my Z on a long trip let´s just say about 900kms could be bad or good for the car?

I´m not a crazy fast speed lover so i normally drive the Z on highway on cruise control of about 110kms p/h.

Eachtime I stop after a long drive I wait 4-5 minutes before shutting the engine off..so the turbos cool down..

as you can see I try to take care of the baby as much as I can..

but I wanted to know if this is good or bad driving the Z on long distance trips.

Help.

Thanks in advanced:)

Letting a ANY car stand is not a good thing, and its not a good thing doing all short journeys either. Cars liked to be used, try and take it for a long drive every now and again and it should stay healthier. Some of the best cars are ex-rep cars, because they have been up and down the motorway everyday, and well serviced.

Regarding letting your turbos spool down, you don't need to leave the car running for 4-5 mins, just drive off boost for the last 5 minutes of your journey, or if you can't do that (like me, lol) just leave it running for a minute and it will be fine ;)

Thanx zx-eyes!!

never let a car stand. I paid the price

I did a 2000 mile trip in mine this year and the car got progressively better,by the time we got back it was doing 34+mpg and purring along.

I have found that a zed hates to be left standing.. Things break.. Definately give it a good run at least once a week IMO.

I can so say the same, I used to stand my Z in the winter and drive my DD, and after returning it to the road, used to have nothing but issues, binding rear callipers, missing, starting issues, all sorts. Even if your not going to use it much, treat it to a nice run every other week to keep everything moving.
