Did they save any lives, did they fight for their country in a war, did they risk their lives for the british citizen..... no! so why the fook are they heros. :rant:

 

When a soilder returns from Afghanistan - does he get the same welcome as these 'heros'???

They are sporting heros. They didn't go out there with grenades and rifles. They went with canoes and bikes.

If that's the case, then you should know better than anyone how important the Olympics were / are to the Greeks. Olympians WERE heroes to the Greeks. They were seen as super human.

yes a solider becomes one because he wants to (in some countries they are forced to) but the solider is forced to go to war, because the goverment have a bone to pick with the other country, and what do they get .... hero status? um don't think so, maybe the big fish in the army does, but not the ones who actually bust their ass for the country.

Just don't understand why you want to try and compare soldiers to olympians.

 

The 47 medalists deserve all the attention they're getting. At the end of the day, it's our best performance for 100 years. Definitly something to be proud of.

I have no interest in the olympics but I am very happy that GB are doing pretty well in this one. Good luck to them I say. As for Afganistan...........Well IMO the brits should be at home and leave all that shite to those that want to be there...................The yanks. :smash:

I am not into watching any sport or the hero worshipping of sports personalities.......

 

.......however it this can restore some much needed national pride then then it's certainly a good thing. Heaven knows, after 11 years of this government attempting to beat any remaining pride in the UK out of us, we definately need it!!!
