I had the pleasure of driving a near as can be 99 spec SWB slicktop manual TT which was just like driving a brand new car. No squeaks or rattles at all.

Now I have owned 5 zeds in my time all LWB all different ages between 89 -93 and all of them rattle and squeak.

Do all your lwb's squeak and rattle too? is there a magic cure? or am I too critical?

Mine does. especially at slow speeds I have tried WD40 on various links and bushes but like you say its an old heavy car so I spose its to be expected? It does me head in sometimes.

Mine does abit, but TBH its inside the car cos trim has been taken out and put back in etc..... Not really from the outside, although it should'nt with the amount of suspension i've changed, lol. :D

mine does a little but i cant locate where its coming from  its 20 years old next year so i can put up with it! just turn my stereo up, lol

My interior trim makes quite a bit of noise, but I just turn the stereo up when it gets annoying.

My current u.k zed and my previous import zed both had squeaks when I got them and it was the same on both cars, the bonnet!

you can hear it inside the car like a little mouse...., lubricated the hinges with spray grease and the little location tab just in front of the hinge. and all sealing rubbers with silicone rubber lubricant not forgetting the rubbers fitted to the underside of the bonnet. cured my squeaks ;)

mine used to rattle terribly but as said above^ it was the bonnet, i had no idea it was the bonnet because the noise was so unusual but it turned out to be.

Check the rubber stops eighter side of the engine bay, they screw in but become really brittle so be carefull.

Also check the bonnet catch and do an online search about fixing the catch because there is a write up on relocating it down a little.

And lastly check the bonnet prop where it goes into the rubber gromit and into the car bodywork behind the passenger light because it makes an awfull lot of noice if it connects.

to check the bonnet rattle the bonnet at the top near the driver side wiper.

hope this helps

Mine is really smooth and quite. Only because i went on rattel patrol :D

^^DITTO! Have managed to hunt down most of my annoying rattles & squeaks.

Things like the door cards and other trims have been taken off a time or two before - fitting speakers/alarms/repairs. I have found trim with broken or missing clips and so fixed or replaced as needed. Just recently had the door cards off and put all new panel clips in, things like this help. A tip for anyone....the card panel clips are the same as Vauxhalls, I bought 10 for £1.50 (cheaper than Nissan dealers).

Also the common bonnet squeak issue can be down to the bonnet stops in that they are too old and are squashed. Adjusting them to fully out didn't help me, the bonnet still sat low against the wings and was allowed to move enough to squeak embarrassing so as driving slow up the road! I found the bonnet stops from Rover 75's perfect and still readily available, the genuine Nissan ones are hard to get, in fact I was told now obsolete.

And now after a little hard work, it is all pretty tight, with just the odd rattle over bad broken road.:headvswal

nothing worse than the rattle of loose trim

Absolutely, I don't accept it any of my cars unless its a work vehicle, drives my girlfriend nuts when I'm leaning all over the place tapping trim to locate a rattle - on the move!:o

I found a rattle last night that has bugged me for ages. Under the front area of the passenger seat there's several little connectors in the ribbed cable sleeve. All loose jarring together. Made a noise like lightly tapping your nails against a wine glass.

Mine used to squeak a bit over rough ground, seemed to be between the dash and front wing, never bothered me too much
