I haven't driven the zed for a couple of months - and probably not driven it in the wet for a year..

Well My daily driver is in for it's MOT so I had no choice but to drive the zed into work today and I still can't tell if it was a horrible or amazing drive...

I couldn't seem to put the power down at all without it snaking all over the road even if I just feathered the throttle lightly.

Roundabouts were a drifting nightmare - and I wasn't trying to at all... That's not how I like to drive especially in rush hour!

At the start it was really unnerving and I was quite worried. By the time I got to the end of the journey I was used to it, and it slides quite predictably so it almost became fun.

I know having spent a year driving a 90bhp fwd pug 307 - the 300zx is a very different beast and needs respect and adjustment, but could it be my tyres have 'gone off' due to lack of use? There bridgestones so should have had good grip in the wet, I'm sure they used too.

What was more worrying was I was sure I was in safety boost as the factory guage never moved past halfway..... How bad would it have been on full power?

Really does depend on tyres tbh, i give my car hell in the wet and my Toyo Proxies hold so well. The back end doesn't even move....Im currently running i think around 10 ~ 14psi and its all good :)

You got shiney stones for tyres or something???

Thats not right dude!

It honestly felt like I was driving in snow...

I don't know whats up with it.

Have a really good look at your rear tyres, especially the inner side tread wear.

Either your tryes are plastic or somethings wrong with your suspension.

You haven't got a tomei racing diff on it have you :).

hmmmm makes sure yr tyres are in good nick, check there is no brake fluid leaking onto them from somewhere, and also check your suspension as well and tyre pressures also

Tyre pressures are spot on and tread is excellent 4-5 mm, I checked them before I set off (and oil and water) but there is a small amount shake, either a wheel slightly out of balance or the tracking slightly out. I don't think that that minor vibration is enough to cause the skating on ice feeling I had. I have driven zeds in much worse condition than mine!

I'm sure this has to be a problem with the rubber. Can rubber go off if not used?

Try lighting them up for a few seconds and burn off any shite that maybe on the outside of them.

I drove the car for 25 miles to work today so would have thought there would have beem nothing coating the tyres - but will have fun lighting the wheels up just to check!

Couple of months is nothing. But for it to suddenly drive like a boat!!!! your gunna need to do some checks on the suspension/wheels!!!

I wanted to start my rebuild with brakes first before I look at the suspension. I guess the stoppers will have to wait!

I believe hicas works between 30 and 50, could it of been that???

I took my car out last night and its barely been driven for months cos of repairs etc... And TBH it felt ok, the only little wiggle i got was dragging with some fat bmw at some traffic lights and i felt the rear end snake for a second and then it was fine.

UPDATE

Just got the car 4-wheel aligned and had all the wheels balanced and now it feels like a new car!

- But then that is in the dry - never thought I would hope the sun would go!

Do you mind if i ask how much it cost bud? As once i've finished fitting my adjustable bits i'll need this doing. :)
