yep, mine was louder, i just fitted some downpipes with silencers which makes it more bearable inside, but to be honest, if i had the choice i would have left it stock imo.

I like mine loud, but it does grind a bit on long journeys

Oh dear im dreading mine now:(

I dont want mine really loud.

Ive got different manifolds and 3" split downpipes.

I hate how loud mine is, and feel quite embarrased driving through my estate - and I know I annoy the neighbours when I let it idle on the turbo timer.

I think I will be changing my single exit back to stock as soon as I can...

The tone will change after a few weeks mate. the stainless system on my old cally was horrible to start with. sounded ace in the end though.

When I had my Smithys/Alunox SS manifold fitted it definately changed the tone of the exhaust, but in a nice way.

Can't say it made it that much louder, but then I do still have my cats on.

Na,s will be louder than tt,s anyway because the turbos act as silencers as well.:D

I agree, even with the new downpipes with silencers i just fitted from the z centre im thinking of going back to stock cats.

Tickover and low revs is fine, when you boot it sounds great, but not in the early hours of the morning.

My N/A probably sounds the same as yours. Leon/Smithy headers, decats, and HKS Hyper exhaust. It was the loudest car at the last rolling road, especially with the baffles out! Soundproofed the interior, and installed a very loud stereo to cope with it.

Can't you fit removable baffles on your exhausts?

I have to have a new exhaust made up for mine when i switch to the shorty shell so i'm having some baffles made up to fit in for day to day, in the meantime why not chuck a duvet in the boot that's what i do in mine when it's stripped out for drag racing

thats what im after nick some bolt in ones . got a link mate??

im not really worried about the noise in the cabin tbh as it sounds awesome . its just mr policeman wont like me as i set of car alarms at night and scare old ladies LOL

I fitted some stainless to my 200 and my bike, same result, louder more humming / reverbing for a bit until they built up some grime. After a couple of months the humming and reverbing settled down, but it does generally make systems louder. If I was that worried I would replace the rear can / cans to smooth it out a bit.

hey hey hello steve welcome back.

yes thats what im thinking but i love the look of the rear cans:cry:

:dance: its cos i look like this :smw:

Yep, that'll do it;)

Admittedly my custom stainless exhaust on the old zed was stupidly loud for the first couple of weeks then it bedded in and it was fine after that

Once it's sooted up it'll be alright buddy :)

Mine is stupidly loud... I love it at full chat when I'm on one but wish I had a button to make it quiet when driving through built up areas... I don't really wanna piss people off with it but needs must 'eh! Was almost thinking of putting my old Mongoose system back on but then it would be too quiet for me... Need an inbetween noise really!

My twin kakimotos are baffleless + straight through decatts.

Its a bit loud for town, but pootling along not too many birds fall out of the trees!

If i could find some proper perforated tube+ wadding baffles for it i might use them! Unfortuneately, all the ones above are glorified baked bean cans-just watch your fuel consumption go up + performance die.

Ok then so does anyone know what effect your back box can have on performance then?? Is it a case of the less silencing you've got and more straight through from the turbo's down the better the performance gain or would it be better having a bigger rear silencer that still gives a nice note but quieter... Ie HKS Super Dragger Big Can or HKS Hyper Muffler, noiser less silencing?? Someone please help for a change mine back to my older quieter mongoose system and make a big mistake!!
