ok, ive got a twin intake kit (two apexi's T'd up into a single pipe) and have read several threads about what also needs to be done, but getting confused as some further mods only need to be done with the doolz or seperate filter kits (wideband o2 sensors/twin maf/apexi safc/fook knows what else!). as my kit still only feeds into one pipe, is it just a matter of remapping the chip or is there something else i need to do?

yep, but if its all standard size pipes, there wont be more air as such, maybe just a better flow than a standard airbox due to the better filtration of the filter

It all depends on where the maf if positioned.

It there is only one maf on a single intake which then splits into two after the MAF then you don't need to do anything, the MAF will read whatever air passed through it.

If the MAF is positioned after the split (i.e. like the Doolz), then you will need a dummy maf on the other side and either a chip that doubles the readings of the MAF or an AFC to adjust the air intake readings.

Yeah, me and john dixon got close to getting mine working just by altering the k value of the ecu then tweaking the maps but unfortunately a loose intake pipe put an end to that and tbh it's rapid enough not to warrant all the extra work setting it up.

On a TT however it would be worth having because of the amount of air needed to cope with the fuel being sucked in.

When i get the new NA engine built if i decide to use my nitrous i'd probably go custom ecu and no mafs anyway

yes, if you put the maf before the split you only need one but the reason for the doolz setup is that it doesnt split the air at all, it doubles the value because each bank has its own filter etc, the alterative to that is to get an oversized pipe/maf/throttle body/plenem even ect.

But eigher way the doolz only works well on high HP cars where you need a ridiculous amount of air to enter the engine because dont forget that air needs to be mixed with fuel etc.

although a good thing about the doolz is it looks very cool and it eliminates all that squashed pipework witch doesnt aid flow at all

ok, so my setup is like a rotated H then - twin filters, into one pipe, through the MAF at its standard location, then split back into two as usual. i might have a crack at putting her on tomorrow then.

thanks Bantam but i already got one ;)

well, it's on. twas a fairly easy job in the end as i was worried that my relocated PTU (on the right) would be in the way, or my BOVs, but it's quite a snug fit under there. let her run for a minute and she sounded ok. am going to take her for a test run now, so hopefully all will be well!

ps. yes i know the sleeves aren't quite a perfect match in colour with the rest of the car, but at least you can't see them!!

she runs well - not noticed any particular increase in performance, though she had a bit of a flat spot near the bottom of the rev range that sorted itself out after a minute or two of driving.

oh, and my premium has gone up by £40 :slap: :nono:

£40 wow! i had one fitted on my old na, virtually the same as yours is now and to be honest i wasn't a fan, i ended up putting a sinle one back on because it feels much torque-ier

ive noticed over the last few miles that it idles too low (about 600!) and struggles to keep the revs up (brum..brum..brum..brum all the time) - should i have reset the ECU after fitting this?

it was more the tape in the intake tract i was pointing out but hey good luck :)

lol sorry mate i must have skipped past that bit!
