Hi,

Can someone tell me the difference betwee a stock N/A and stock TT on the following?

1. 0-60

2. 60-10

3. 1/4 mile

I have read somewhere that the 0-60 is about the same and the 60-100 is where it differs?

Any other advise on the difference and pro's, con's of each welcome!

There's figers are from the book, Nissan 300zx the enthusiast's companion

300zx N/A 2-seater (us) 300zx turbo 2-seater (us) 300zx turbo 2+2 (european)

0-60 6.7 5.5 5.7

0-100 18.6 14.6 15.2

1/4 mile 15.0 14.1 Not listed

Don't know the answers i'm afraid, however i can assure you that a n/a and tt 0-60 is NOT the same!!!

I also heard that N/A's are quicker off the line? I have looked for stats and figures all over the place, but everysingle one of them is different to another! There dont seem to be any "accurate" 0-60 time comparisons against the two cars.

I read a thread on here about 10 minutes ago that stated the big difference is in 60-100 and 0-60 was about the same (TT slightly faster, but N/A quicker off the line)? Where those stats came from is beyond me?

Alas, I suppose us N/A owners dont have to worry about lag! Just pop and go!

I have heard alot of figures float about over time, however IMO these figures seem to be most common and most realistic! 0-60 n/a=6.7-7.0 tt= 5.4-5.7.

And TBH a tt zed really does'nt suffer from lag! And thats not just being biased because i own one, it is the truth. :)

If you want accurate figures the best forum member to ask is Legrath. HTH :)

Thanks zx-eyes! Not trying to be difficult, just seems bl00dy hard to find accurate data about anything these days! For example, a quote off one thread I find was this:

"Performance is good, both TT and NA are close up to 90 then afterwards then the TT pulls away (something to do with the gearing i think)"

I guess Legrath will pop along soon to shoot me down lol! Either ways, I love my Zed! N/A or TT, Joe Bloggs on the street still doesnt know what it is!

I remember seeing a guy at the Tesco petrol station in Hucknall, Nottingham, he was just getting into his Orange Gallardo when I pulled in, he got out of his £100K car and said that he used to have a Zed and they were cracking cars!! Still has the status it would appear!

LOL it is funny how many looks you get :D

And i know how hard it is to get accurate info about these types of things :( If you do a search try and find a post by Legrath as he knows his elbow from his 4rse, it sounds like i'm kissing his arse, but he is very knowledgable and will always help :)

Cheers zx-eyes, I will try and search for that thread and see what I get! Alternatively, if I don't find it, am sure he will pop the figures in this thread for me!

Thanks for your help!

There was a thread regarding gearing...it mentioned "The best Mod is supposed to be an N/A box on a TT" as the gearing on an N/A Box is shorter and so 0-60 is improved, but the trade off is that you lose top end speed due to the shorter ratios...However one Vs the other will see a TT come out on top every time!

Search for 'N/A rear diff on a TT' and you might find the thread i think you're talking about!

add 'N/A rear diff on a TT' instead of gearing!

i can imagine the N/A, with its cam profile and closer gearing perhaps getting a nose ahead for a while, but the TT will comfortably beat it. do a search on youtube for the vid where all the Zs from 240Z to 350Z race on top gear. although Gio, the driver of the TT, said the start was a bit wonky as they didnt have proper racing lights, the TT destroys all very comfortably (including the renault ;) ) oh, they edited the lights in at the end ;)

No offence to NA owners but in a 0-90mph dash they won't be close!!

0-30 probably close but once the turbos hit full boost, the TT will pull away. Hence the 0-60 of the TT being around 1 to 1.5 seconds quicker.

The rolling "in gear" acceleration of a TT is also far superior owing to the higher, and well matched, BHP and torque figures.

Richard:)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
