I removed my rear spoiler tonight, what a job! Does anyone know of a good adhesive remover to get the remaining glue off? I cant seem to shift it even with good old fashioned elbow grease!

There is a tool you can use designed to remove the sealant/glue , thats available from Bodyshop suppliers .....but I cant for the life of me remember what its called..... somebody will pop along and know though Im sure...

In the twinturbo.net write up, they say Lighter Fluid? Anyone tried this?

Whats the best way of doing it Stellaz? DO I need to soak a rag and then let it soak into the glue? Then just use another rag and rub?

OK. Tried some suggestions I read on the net.

Lighter Fluid, crap, doesnt do anything even when soaked in.

Carb Cleaner, dangerous, removes fine, but also takes off the paint#

G3, just turns the glue white instead of black

At a loss now guys, this stuff is so thick I dont know what to do. Tried heat too, thats a no go either.

i just used white spirit!

the paint will be fooked underneath anyway so doesn't really matter much how you do it.

TBH the paint is absolutely immaculate underneath the spoiler, not one blemish whatsoever, just the black glue crap. Also, I have no issues with a rippled tailgate either, is smoothe as silk!

Going to borrow a Caramel Wheel off Boldy, that should get the bleeder off. Do I use the caramel wheel dry?

not ever removed a rubber spoiler but if the black sticky stuff on your tail gate is anything like the sealer around the brake lights i'd try turtle wax bug n tar wipes / spray to shift it....worked a treat when doing my rear lights had black gunk all over the lights n body work as its a waterproof low heat high tack glue...gets everywhere horrible stuff but soon shifted with the bug n tar stuff

Caramel wheel.

^^ Thats it ! :D

mmmmmm caramel  thats what i used but you need to be careful not to burn through the paint

Gets harder by the minute! I was told there was not fear of the paintwork being damaged! Can you advise me on "how" to do it right?

Thanks

slow and steady would be my opinion....if you give the caramel wheel too much revs you'll burn / heat up the paint surrounding the glue...i'd think a variable speed drill / angle grinder is a must to do that job right

use the edge as the bottom will probably have a screw through it for the drill attatchment

white spirit, lots of it, keep soaking the rag and keep rubbing, always keep the glue wet with spirit

thought i had replied to this last night lol

i used autoglyme tar remover and alot elbow grease, worked relly well let soak in rub with cloth keep going will come off eventually, had blister on thumb afterwards, crap job quite a ew hours work
