Are we within six months of being able to get 99 cars bought in?

If so, who's doing the imports here at the moment?

Any idea how much for a nice, standard LWB TT?

Lee/Import-ance has said he is looking into it...although currently tempoarily banned from forum at moment.

Apparently they still hold there prices really well in Japan and prices seemed to be in the £10-14k region when mentioned previously......more than a newer 350z

Cheers mate!

Maybe that means they're becoming collectable and it'll push up values over here? I'm not holding my breath for it though.

I spoke to a guy who imports JDM motorbikes and certain domestic models from the tail end of the Japanese economic boom and its manufacturing tail end (mid to late 90s) have doubled / tripled in value (Uk prices) in the last 1-2years.

your right, your's is now worth £500

p.s, email on itsway regarding "taking over the forum", wink wink, nudge nudge

Fook knows what mine's worth.

It is the LWB, auto, NA, targa, cloth interior - the least desirable of all!

Ah yes, taking over the forum. It shall be ours. Keep it schtum though. :D

I reckon some people are going to get stung in the first few months with a pre 99 spec. But I am sure Lee will sort anyone out with the reel thing. :)

you could import a 99 spec last year couldnt you?

it just would have required SVA last year, but not now, that right?

PS lot of money for 99 Spec, even now its 10 years old!

(supose the fairlady is expensive brand new tho)

You can Import a 99spec anytime you want. There have been a few in the country for a while now (Craig David ^^^ has one already)...but ever since they changed the law in 2002 (i think it was 2002) any car younger than 10yrs required a SVA test and to have an SVA test there must be a model report on the vehicle available.

The 300zx does not have a model report, so its not been possible to register one on the road until its 10 yrs old. The first 99spec's started in late 98, so at the end of this year it will be possible to register the earlier versions.

You are looking at at least 10k OTR for one of these. Lets be realistic, who in their right mind is going to pay that much for a 20 year old car with a facelift?

A customer of mine just sold his Standard 1999 Supra for £12k.

Actually the 99 year cars will be 10 years old;)

And enough people will buy them to sell the very few cars that were actually made. In todays world £10K for a drop dead gorgeous rare collectable sports car is not a lot of money at all.

Plenty people pay that for 35 year old 240Zs:bow:

I have already decided what colur/spec Im interested in and Im sure Im not the only forum member who has his/her eye on one.

The cars are rare indeed by virtue of the low numbers sold and IMO there wont be any initial "surge" in availability.

Just a steady trickle.

Yours will be a dirty NA though... ;) hehe

I'd very much like one, but the 10k plus would be my TVR/house deposit (havnt made a decision yet!) sooo cant really buy another zed with it!

Hmm, but when you can get the same looking gorgeous sports car for 5k

it seems a bit over the top.

mileage will be a bit less, but 5k Fairlady's are usually in top nic :)

Same for Supra though...£5k for a good early one, and up to £15k for a later one....same car, facelift parts....people pay it.

Looking back to the first generation Zeds for a moment.....

The 260Z is the "same looking" car as a 240Z but it never has and probably never will command the price and respect of the first zed the 240Z.

96/97 imported Z32s are mainly in good nick etc as you say but the 99 spec car will be the one to have not only because of its subtle differences both cosmetically and structurally but because of its rarity.Rare cars always command higher values among collectors and as I originally said there will be enough "collectors" to buy up the few nice 99 spec cars that come along. IMO of course

Other buyers who are just looking for "a nice Z32 " wont pay the premium price and will be happy with slightly older and more common cars.

Hence prices will be higher and probably will remain that way

Did I read somewhere that 99spec z32's are not mod friendly? you can't increase bhp with some basic chip/boost like the earlier models. Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

I believe you are right since the chip went from 8 bit to 16 bit (or something) it was difficult to program them - you actually have to get an old chip socket retro fitted.

On the other hand the mechanical components would be better.

Personally i would go for a cheaper older Zed and spend the 5k you have saved on modifying/upgrading the components. Even with a 99 spec you will need things doing to it anyway and you are mostly paying money for depreciation of the car (whereas a well looked after older zed is already at the bottom of the depreciation curve).
