Hey. Does anyone know if the standard wheels will fit over GTR/Z33 Brembo's?? If so anyone got pics??

Featured Replies

they fit under standard s14 wheels but with 30mm spacers. I was hoping teh rears of a UK z32 would be that bit wider with clearence.

ummm not heard of that one, oh well you learn something new everyday!
We were told they wouldn't either but had teh wheel and the car so mounted it up. It was tight but it did fit. We didn't have the spacer on us at the time but it would've done nicely.

It was tested with R32 GTR's which are 16's and they fitted over them aswell.

I was hoping someone had tried it on here.

Never tried it, a modified zed on stock wheels would be a rarity. Have had problems fittings 17's and even 18's over brembo's though, its more about the offset and design of the spokes than the diameter.

actually, yes just remembered.....have tried Stock wheels with 350z Brembo's and they did not fit...but the 350z's brembo's use a different offset to the GTR brembos.

Feck - that's me scuppered so! :( Unless the hubs on the S14a are different to the Z32. I'll be using S13 rear hubs on mine with a 350Z setup.

sorry to jump in but im curious, which of these breaks are best

They're the same pretty-much, GTRs are just easier to fit to S14/a's than 350Z because of the stud pattern.

They all share the same stud pattern. The Offset is different however, and the mounting hole size differs.

so which are actually best for a zed

Lee,

As stated above, both the GTR (R33) and Z33 (350Z) discs are the same size (= 324mm). However, the off-sets are different. Minimum wheel size requirement is still 17-inch though. From that perspective it is easiest to use GTR discs as they bolt straight onto the Z32 hub without the need for modifications. The only thing you need to do is move the caliper out by means of a caliper relocation bracket. Should you wish to go down that route let me know as I supply both the GTR sized discs AND the caliper relocation brackets. Have a look on http://www.smithys-place.co.uk/brakes.php and look for the line items marked GTR-sized. I can highly recommend the DBA 4000-series discs. FYI - the caliper relocation brackets retail at £80 and include the required bolts and washers.

thats handy to know danny, thanks. I still need to send u my ecu, sorry its taking so long

To be honest I had forgotten about that ... :x:

Let me know when you're ready before you send it to me.

Apologies, I meant mounting hole position! :o How come I can't edit my posts?

The mounting hole position for R33 GTR brembos is the same as for stock Z32/S14 calipers. If you are upgrading to Z33 (350Z) calipers then the mounting holes on the hub need to be made larger to 14mm diameter (stock Z32 diameter is 12mm). Furthermore, as the Z33 discs use a different off-set you will need to have the caliper relocation brackets custom made (this only applies if you intend to use STOCK Z32/S14 calipers).

to be more specific ...

Oh I know, I've seen a few conversions on S-chassis & I'm in the middle of getting the hubs re-welded to take the calipers as opposed to getting a bracket made up - more secure I'm thinking.

Why would you need a Bracket to fit the calipers

R33 GTR / R34 GTR / 350z - Brembo's all fit onto the Z32 without any modification (except drilling the holes a bit bigger) . Straight bolt on, no brackets.

and the S14 uses same mounting points as the Z32.

Z33 discs use a different off-set you will need to have the caliper relocation brackets custom made.

I think these two comments contradict each other. Can someone clarify which of them is correct ?

I presume Dan must mean if your fitting Z33 discs and stock calipers. Front calipers are straight bolt on, other than enlarging the hole. Definatly, as I have fitted a couple of sets recently.

Forgot to say - I was referring to the fronts. Z33 rear calipers do need the hub modified as mounting hole is about 1cm out of alignment.

Correct, I should have been more specific. I was referring to Z33 discs used in conjunction with STOCK Z32 calipers. In this case you need caliper relocation brackets. If you have Z33 discs and Z33 calipers then the ONLY modification is to drill out the caliper attachment holes (I believe from 12mm to 14mm). NO BRACKET REQUIRED.

Apologies for the confusion caused - I have amended my original post to be more specific.

Dan
