Hello all was hoping to MOT the zed on thursday! But... the steering wheel moves from left to right about quarter of an inch so thought I would tighten up the bolts around steering column which I did and then 'bang' snapped one off by this time I was pretty pi**ed off!! the bolt that snapped is spot welded to some sort of metal frame, I have some pics but any advice how I can get it out?? I have tried screw driver and lump hammer but it wont move, I have the speedo out but still need room! I think the zed knows Im tempted to sell her or this damn bitch wouldent of snapped on me!!!

hers some pics I just wiped pc so no paint shop but the bolt is behind the ignition barrel next to the silver V shape piece of metal!

Can you get a small drill, just less than the size of the thread, try and drill it out. Or just enough to get a start for a centre punch on it, then hammer it out.

Once out get a new m8 or m10 bolt, the type with a flat head and square under the flat bit.

Or is there enough thread to get a nut on the bolt left?

I could possibly get an electric drill from the top behind the speedo but would need to drill through the dash to get to it which would be ok because that part of dash is behind speedo. I tried a lump hammer and screw driver with alot of force and that dident work! Not sure how much thread there is left on bolt but may well get two nuts on there if there thin enough? But then that would probably snap the bolt again?? Cheers for your help mate!

Its spot welded so wont hammer out- cut off flat, centre punch & drill hole from underneath and use new bolt- bit of a fiddle tho.

Its def welded in there well! I gave it a good beating good idea to cut off flat! save drilling an inch! Drilling seem the best way. Def a fiddly job not so bad with speedo out to get to the top of bolt just got to cut a hole in dash behind speedo!

would a dremel with a cut off blade get in there? or a cut off blade on an air tool.

I dont have such tools!!! Theres little room to do anything but as the bolt is so soft a lump hammer and chisel may well do it? or better still I have a few nut splitters one of those should cut through bolt??
