 600 AND WHAT i think you need to go and get the car back and do it yourself, you can get a second hand engine for less than that,,,,trading standards springs to mind

Fitting 1 injector can be a time consuming job, cheapest way is a slight dremel at the side of the plenum, though some don't like doing that. Costly way is to remove plenum and fit the injector, only done this once a long time ago, but certainly it should be off, injector fitted and all working again by just after lunch time. New gasket and 2 O rings required so i would expect a bill to be around the 200 quid area.

P.S have heard of scary price like this before for an injector swap.

I can't imagine how they could possibly bill you for that much.

Did you get a quote before hand ?

It's bascially disconnect injector and coil pack connectors (all 6), disconnsct anything else that attaches the plenum to the lower plenumn, plenumn off, injector out, new o ring, injector in, new plenum gasket, plenumn back on, connect everything back up.

I can only assume that they broke some connectors and had to wire in some new ones.

Get a break down of exactly what they did in writing and before you go to pay write a letter of payment in dispute. i.e. you cover yourself if you want to take any further action.

You have to pay for the full amount no matter what, just to get your car back, but you can write this letter to say you are paying to get your car back but will be taking it to a court to get a full or partial refund if they feel the work that was carried out was either not justified or over priced.

If at any stage you did not get a quote before hand or they phoned you to tell you that the price was going to be more than you originally quoted. There is nothing you can do about it (legally).

thanks all your help is great...its not like theyre a main dealer or anything and i did say i needed it done cheaply...so we'll see now wheres the number for my local mafia......

I think the first (and only) time I did this it took me four hours to get the plenum and injector rails out ! Can't remember how long to put it back but I did a few other jobs as well and I like to do it 'right'. So at £50 (or more!) per hour plus VAT, I can see how you would end up with a bill similar to that.

Sounds to me that because of their inexperience with the job its taken them far too much time, and they have charged it out on the hourly rate.

Really should of got a quote beforehand.

I would suggest you phone up Ztech and Zedworld, and ask them for written quotes to do the job (email/fax) , then take the quotes from the Speciliast Z garages to your garage to show them and explain you are unprepared to pay the bill as it in unreasonable.

If they refuse to compromise then you'll have to go down the legal route.
