I've just been reading up on the new car tax regulations and it states "Cars registered before March 2001 do not qualify" but what about imports? My car was registered in 2006 although its a 1991 model, does that mean it will fall into the new tax bands because it wasn't UK registered until 2006?

Featured Replies

I'd Imagine its based on the "new at first registration date" or Manufactured date , rather than UK registration date

^ what he said...

key words are 1st registration date there is no 'in the uk' added to that law :)

Just checked the reg document and it does say first registered 1991. Should have checked that first lol. Even if it didn't its registered as 2000cc 4 door saloon no model listed.

If you PM me your reg number mate I will find out for you. I have a link on the MLR that tells you. I tried details for a w-reg evo6 import and the tax was going up to £400ish, then tried it on an 02 plate evo6rs offical rallyart import and it is only £200ish. So guess what evo I went for.

or try this Link

and go to vehicle enquiry

mine's still the same and my reg date is 2006 according to that

Guys (and gals) don't worry about it.....

.....whether you have an import or UK spec car, the 300zx road tax will not increase dramatically next year.

It is currently £185 and the tax will remain at that level (subject to the usual £5 or £10 annual increases) for the forseeable future.

It is only cars FIRST USED/MANUFACTURED afer March 2001 with an officially quoted CO2 figure that are affected by the rip-off thieving b@stard increases to £400 or so.

Richard:)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
