anyone know if its possible to do the plenum bypass without having to take it off ?. on the way back from the meet yesterday the small hose split & started to overheat again, which can be seen if you look directly down the side of number 1 coil pack & plenum. its only about 2.5 inches long as well

No!

 i didnt want that reply :slap::rofl: are you sure :wack:

I managed it on the driver's side. There's a link to a TTNet article on here somewhere and if you look at what's being bypassed, you can leave the old tubes still on the plenum and just bypass them. Definately possible.

now thats more like it dave :D.

i only want to do a temporary bypass till i get round to polishing my spare plenum.

Yeah it,s deffo do-able , we did mine , you might lose a bit of skin but it,ll grow back :D:D

Itll be bloody difficult. You certainly wont be able to get rid of all the pipe work as its bolted to the underneath of the plenum.

TBH your making work very diffcult keeping the plenum in

i only want it to be temporary nick as im planning on changing it over for the other one, so i can remove the whole lot then.

i think the hardest bit is going to be round a AIV at the rear passanger side of the car, even with the battery out, space is extemely tight because of the loom and the other vacuum pipes around there. I just hope for your sake that all the clips on the water pipes are at such and angle you can get a set of thin nose pliers on, otherwise its going to be out with the stanley blade and ALOT of patience.

Best of luck to you mate

anyone got any pics, or how many pipes are involved ?. ive looked at my spare plenum, can see 2 larger pipes that go to the rear. advice needed quick as i want it back on the road . looked on tt.net but still cant find anything.

cheers mate. will have a go tomorrow ;)

The hard bit is getting to the water pipe from your turbo on the n/s. i had the plenum off and also took off the turbo/intercooler pipe and i still struggeld trying to get the new pipe on.

On that site you need to replace 2, 9,10 and 11

Good luck :D

I managed to replace all of my hoses on the plenum with it in place. It took me and the mechanic 2 days and much lost skin couple with a lot of swearing and cursing. A set of gaskets would have been a lot easier.
