Should i........or is it time to sell???

Well, the day has come that i have it to with this country!

So, me and my mate are going to Australia for a year......possibly more!

My problem is.......What do I do with my zed?

Ive just put a fair bit of money into her (£14k in the past 10 months) and dont really want to sell her, but realistically, once i've been out there for a year, i cant see myself coming back!

Do i put her into storage for a year and come back in a years time and deal with her?

Do I sell her now and get another one when i get out there?

Or just bite the bullet and get her transported out there (and back again if i dont like it!)

Help Guys!!!!!!

i think you should hang on to it for now, see how it goes over there first then if you end up staying you could always get it transported over

EDIT: Well, the day has come that i have had it with this country!

Now you`re making sense ! ;)

It`s certainly a hard one , though

maybe you need to decide if you want to keep the car full stop. whether your here, or australia.

1) could you get one of the same spec over there ?

2) cost of shipping

3) cost of storage

bare in mind insurance, plus you would have to sorn it even though your not here. just a few things to think about there ;). good luck whichever way you go.

I think your making the right move Mikey, i wish it was me.

I think your dad could really do with a nice change so i hope it all works out for you.

Its only a car at the end of the day, i realise you've spent a lot of money on it but if i were you i'd try and recover what money i could from it and don't look back.

You know it makes sense.

All the best to you and the rest of your family.

Realistically, the car owes you a fair amount of cash, in todays climate you wont get this back.

If you put her in storage, it will be on your mind all the time (is she ok, has anyone tamperd with her, will it work when out of storage, ie brakes and fuel.

Plus the added cost of storing for a year.

Why not go to Austraila for the year, with the zed in storage and after 6 months get her over there too. Youve spent the cash already so thats gone technically speaking, enjoy the car................

yeah as Stu says keep it for a bit, you could always get someone to turn it over and take it round the block every now and then (carefuly, lol.)

Store it bud. Australia eh!!! Jammy bazzard!!!:D Im off to Germany and gonna live in Holland. I feel the same ref the country. As above the car owes you alot so keep and wait:)

a car shouldnt change teh way you live, just enhance it.

if i was mooving i would sell, you can always buy another. and in todays climate they are up for sale all teh time.

cheers guys.

Ive spoken to a guy from my work (who knows exactly what this car means to me!!!!) and he has said he would buy her just before i go. But, with the prices of todays zeds.....i wont get much for her!

However, i'm having a look around to see what shipping costs are like. If it's gonna cost me about the same to ship her out there as it would to store her, i'd sooooooooooooooo much rather take her with me!

take her with you or you will regret it !

Wise words paul.

Ive just had a shipping quote of £906 from Southampton to melbourne (which i think is very reasonable!) but i still need to find out the costs of testing and registration at the other end.

I've looked into the storage option and they want about the same to store it for a year as it would cost to take her with me!

i'd just take her with you for that price mate, if you store it your gonna have teething problems when you come back, at least if you do take it over theres plenty of known tuners over there and you'll probably have the roof off constantly which is a dam good thing :D

Take it with you, you know you want too.

Try postingon the OZ forum to try and find out what other costs there might be.

Good stuff. I don't look on there very often, only when I am bored.

I am sure the money would come in handy so I say sell. The thing is the way things are going in this country you might not get scrap value for a 300ZX next year what with fuel prices and tax and all that shite and so you will end up even more pi55ed off because you didnt sell now. The other point is that you may find it so brilliant out there you might want to stay? Shipping costs would surely be rather heavy?

See, i had a buyer set up. One of my mates said that he'd hand me £5k in my hand for it in may / june.

But then i checked the shipping costs and to go from southampton the melbourne, it's merely £906!!!

However, i've been told i can go on night shifts for a contant 10weeks if i want it, in april / may so that puts a good £11k into my pocket (more than enough to take her with me and a good amount in my pocket when i get there) so i think that the options are starting to sway towards keeping it and take her with me!
