Car crime victims ATT please!

Right whatever you want to do with them, then do it all via mail to eachother, talk of hire, while I am away on holiday and they can't blame me etc,is a little silly on a public forum IMHO.

Yes these F*kers want nailing to trees by their heads, but this stuff is serious guys when everyone can see your plans wink.gif

Trust me!

Well personally I wasnt taking it seriously. If I ever did get even with some one, I wouldnt post on the internet first either. biggrin.gif

Stuart

Totally agree, guess it`s easy to get carried away without thinking!

Bob

Yes chaps, chapesses,

as I said on previous thread:

Scrots, their lawyers and the police have PCs and internet access of their own, you know.

Point one - I don't think violence and/or criminal acts are the correct way to obtain redress. That's descending to the level of the little ****s who are the problem.

Point two - think carefully about threatening violence in a public forum. You are all traceable and have said things in public that you perhaps thought were just like being mates in a pub. Type it on the internet is almost as good as standing up in court so think before you type.

Point three - You are old, Father William, the young man said. Quite right - I am old. This willy-waving testosterone fuelled bull is boring, boring, boring. Where's wendy when the forum needs her? (Oh, over there on another thread - Hi Wendy, Hi Robert).

Point three a) - when I found this forum I was pleased as a thing which was very pleased indeed. I told all my car-interested mates, I tried to get the Z Club interested, I tried to get Nissan talking to us, etc etc. The technical help, expertise and all round good-stuff from here can be marvellous. But even so, I can't be ***ed any more. It's like inviting your old mates to your favourite pub, walking in through the door and seeing someone cr*pping on the carpet.

So I don't bother anymore.

If we want (and I really hope it happens) to have a lot of new people willing to sign up and pay dosh to be member of this forum, you can't go on as now.

Point four (and the last one) - there are times when the forum flies like an angel - funny, expert, challenging, rude, witty, helpful, collective and a lot of other hoopy stuff. There are times when it looks as if the collective IQ is below the individual age. Worse than a playground. Think about all the people who have dropped out just since January. And that includes one of the founder admin guys (if I read the posts correctly).

I don't ask you all to agree with me - far from it: it's a free world and I am only a newbie. But if you want me to visit your home (and give a small contribution to the upkeep - already done BTW) and encourage my mates to visit and contribute, please don't cr*p on your floor in public.

Humph - Gio

Spoken like a gentlemen.

Point 99 - Why do you think I am called Timmy Turbo???

Posting stupidity under your full blown name is stupid in itself! wink.gif

"The court calls Timmy Turbo from Turbo Towers somewhere in de Wales..."

Yeah right! LMFAO biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Tried to do a search for the RX7 theft that Nico posted, turned out to be another forum member mad.gif Can't find it frown.gif

maxidog.jpg

KEEP IT SIDEWAYS;).

I know the RX7 incident you are talking about there Iain, fella on a US RX7 forum ingratiates himself with the forum and becomes trusted, finds out some details on a real nice 7TT.

What he did was private message the guy and get his VIN details on the false proviso that he was collecting a database of imported sevens. He then goes to a branch of Mazda-America and gets replacement keys supplied for this other guys seven... goes round and steals it frown.gif

The forum members sussed him and sent the 5-0 round to find this little sh*t stripping US$40K of RX7.

Let the poster beware.... frown.gif

hmmm, cant see that working tbh, considering your ISP know your name, address and phone number, and theres a little thing in the bottom right corner of each post you make..."IP: logged" wink.gif

I'm not on about that, I mean that you are posting in a public domain. Means that anybody can read what you post!

Like recently where Glen slipped up and announced to the whole world where his and Leighs Tracker units were going on their cars by accident.

Sometimes people post things on here and don't realise how much they are giving away.

Like the posts that crop up every now and then "So where is everybody from then?"

Some people will be very vague like myself and say Wales. Others will give out a county and some will even let slip the town or village that they live in.

So Joe Crim can then goto the users rides section and sees "Oh Clarkey has a white Z with registration number blah, blah..." coz you haven't blanked out the plate then "Oh and he lives in so and so town..."

See what I'm getting at? 300's are fairly rare anywhere so they are not difficult to track down with the wrong intentions.

Has fcuk all to do with your ISP or the Admin guys on here having access to your IP.

So WTF does my IP tell Craig and Nico? That I am posting from my workplace...big deal...but my Z isn't here is it?

So WTF does my IP from my ISP tell Craig and Nico? That I am a member of so and so ISP and that is usually dynamic and changes everytime I log on.

So how is that gonna help in nicking my car???

All Iain is getting at and I agree is think a little before you post something that could potentially fill in another piece of the picture for someone whose intentions may not be entirely honourable! wink.gif

point 2a) about this being a public place. True, people can use aliases and post from work but any half competent lawyer or copper would be able to identify most people on here with half a day's work at most.

That's without the technical stuff of IP logging and ISP records (RIP act etc).

For example, there are pictures of people identified, locations given, ex-employers, pics of partners, horses and even ducks! A morning sitting down and trawling through posts already made will give enough details for most of us to be identified either directly or after a couple of phone calls.

So you are not really anonymous.

I am not talking about posting details of your motor so thieving tw*ts know where it is - you're quite right on that.

I am talking about people making threats or conspiring to cause a criminal act - i.e. "let's get the ****er" or "give me a call, I do contract work" - that sort of stuff.

I would prefer you don't do this sort of thing at all but if you must, just remember that if you do it in a public form - like here - you are effectively fitting yourselves up.

oops x2 oops x2
