Wonder if anybody could shed light in these 2.

1. When my car hits approx 1,500 rpm befire red line, its a little stuttery and you can hear the exhaust popping. I think its maybe related to the fact that no matter what I do I cant get the Temp Needle on the 1/2 Mark. I put some of this down to the fact I ripped out aircon and have a Koyo Rad, but as the little hoses at the rear of the engine leak a little once you switch the engine off, even if you dont use the hearter/air. I guess the Thermostat is stuck open? Car doesnt seem to be drinking fuel, but it was mentioned at the recent meet by a car somwhere along our convoy, that somebody was deffo runing rich, me possibly?

2. When overtaking in 4th or 5th at approx 2-3000 rpm the sound of the engine increases, the boost guage shows full boost, but the rev counter dont change and the car doesnt pick up any real speed. Car sounds like i should be accelerating quick but its not. I think its either A) Clutch needs Adjusting B) Clutch is slipping under torque C) Big boost leak at high revs.

Though I'd bring this up again as its annoying me. Allthough number one probles has not re arised.

The 2nd problem is getting annoying and even a tad dangerous as overtaking can be a gamble. Basically i seems on full boost at Medium to high revs the car revs incread but there is no power going to the wheels. The boost guage shows nothing wrong, just seems the engine is producing the power but sending it to outer space rather than the wheels.

Sounds like clutch slip to me, especially if it's around peak torque ~3250-3750 rpm.

No Smells, the rev counter does rise quick and basically nothing happens. Be annoyed if its the clutch as the car has only done about 800-1,000 miles.

Well if the revs go up, you're not accelerating and the wheels aren't spinning then the clutch must be slipping !

You could try the adjustment of the pedal but it's probably clutch needs replacing. Is it stock, new or aftermerket and what sort of power you running ?

As far as i am aware its new stock clutch and im running 13psi boost. Non standing starts and no burnouts and its really only lasted 1000 miles.

New clutch plate minimum needed then.

Lisa'a lasted about the same, but hers smelt all the time as well.

these manuals are rubbish. I drive my manual around pretty carefully and the clutch goes. The fast Rd auto was abused to hell and back, then went to speedfreak who did the same and it never missed a beat.

Buy a decent clutch ! nothing wrong with the manual box, that will hold more power than you will ever have ;)

Well that will take the value of money spent on the car in 12 months over and above the value of the flippin thing. I can see why i rarely drive it anymore.

looking at it i dont think I have even done 1,000 miles. More like 500 but will have a look at the mot and odometer when i get home.
