July 23, 200817 yr Hi guys after doing a full oil and filter change at the weekend and thanks to SMW1 for the shit hot guide, iam now going to change the spark plugs. So ive got my plugs just need some help on the fitting, ive never fitted them on cars with coil packs so any help would be great.
July 23, 200817 yr First off remove balance bar, you only need to undo the 5 nuts, 3 on the passenger side and 2 on the drivers then the small bolts that hold on the brackets on each side of the plenum, then slide the throttle cable away from the balance bar clip, this makes it possible to simply twist back the balance bar giving you room to get a socket on the rear coilpacks but firstly unclip all coilpack connectors then unbolt all the bolts on the coilpacks and remove them. you can now drop an extension down to the plugs to undo and remove, but make sure you have a good tool to grip the ends of the plugs so that when replacing with new they dont drop down and ruin the gaps on the ends of the sparks.
July 23, 200817 yr If you hav'nt got the special plug socket with the plug retaining rubber inside.Just wrap a piece of tape around the plug nut end and socket, not too much just enough to hold it as you will have to pull the socket out with the tape still on it.Oh and be carefull you dont loose the o rings under balance bar.
