After having some problems with vibration in the steering under braking it's been narrowed down to a few problems all sorted but i now need to buy a new pair of discs and pads.

My first worry is to stop this disc warping happening again which in the first place was probably due to me not running them in properly!

I had Ferodo DS 2500 pads and DBA slotted discs.

I have been told that even though the pads are good they have a high metal content and i may have overcooked the discs.

As i'm now on a real budget i need to buy somthing a little less expensive and i've seen the 3G discs which are grooved with 20 channels and are £270 including vat.

As for pads i may go for something good but also a little less than the Ferodo's....

Any ideas for

1.Discs?????????

2.Pads?????????

Cheers

Alex

You also need to be sure that there are no stuck pistons in the caliper. I found the inner pistons quite bad with corrosion and sticking and this can mean the disc is heating unevenly under braking which can lead to warping. Also rubbish braking! A seal kit and new pistons can make the calipers good as new. I used the 3G discs also and they have been fine with some slight noise under breaking and I guess they cheese grate the pads a bit.

Hi Alex,

Sorry about having to cut our telephone conversation short yesterday. I tried phoning back later in the afternoon but got no answer so left a message on your mobile service. Give me a call later today (after 2pm if possible) to continue our discussion.

Question for you: are you using stock size (ie 280mm) DBA discs or GTR size (ie 324mm) discs?

Hopefully I'll speak to you later today.

Regards,

Dan
