sounds like a dicky speed sensor, is yours auto or manual?

its a manual twin turbo

more than likely its speedo convertor playing up,girlfriends fto is doing the same as yours mate.

I know when the speed sensor goes or plays up on an auto it goes stiff at the steering. Not to sure on manual though.

Is the speed sensor easy to locate?

I think the Speed Sensor is on the steering rack. But not positive.:nelson:

Speed sensor is on the Gearbox, and a faulty one will cause speedo, PAS and Hicas problems. As will a faulty KPH>MPH Convertor, and its a more common failure.

Chances are the steering is a related problem as the HICAS is speed sensitive.

It could be the speed sensor or the converter thing behind the clocks playing up, as this is the easiest thing to change I would start with that, just remove it from the circuit and see if the problem goes, you will be in KMH but it will show one way or another if the converter is the problem.

Good luck with it.

Darrell

As said above buddy its on the bottom of the gearbox. I changed mine easy. I think all i needed was a 10 mm spanner for the bracket holding it. It took me longer to get the car in the air than it did to do the job.;)

Is the speed sensor easy to locate?
