July 15, 200818 yr My z32 tt has just developed a ticking noise, i cant really pin point where its coming from and its quite loud it get louder as the revs get higher. I know it could be a few different things but has anyone had a simular problem or know what is could be any help would be great.
July 15, 200818 yr usually a ticking noise is the hydraulic lifters sticking a little, how long since the car had an oil change, you can also purchase lifter cleaner, try running around with that for a couple of hundred miles then change the oil.
July 15, 200818 yr Author Not sure about the oil change ive only had the car a month ive tried the valve lifter treatment its made no difference. Do you think an oil change with a thinner oil could cure it.
July 15, 200818 yr I would certainly change the oil if you cant be sure when it was last done, thinner/new good quality oil solved my ticking probs to a certain extent, but it does come back from time to time, Its probable the lifters themselves are the age of the car, so their not going to be in fantastic condition anyway. You'll find alot of zed's have suffered with this a one time or another, but definitely worth an oil change and a good run, before you consider new lifters as thats quite a large expense, especially if you get a garage to do the work for you.
July 15, 200818 yr mine were sounding a little clicky as the car had been stood for 3 weeks, I good few miles have sorted them tho.
