Just wondering if anybody has every gone to exedy for a warranty issue. Ive been told that i have the carbon alloy clutch and its slipping. And apparently its got a lifetime warranty. Is that on the whole clutch, even the plates etc, or just the non wear bits. Any advice on how to go about this or is it new clutch time, and if so, what do people recomend?

cheers

Maybe it's one of those clutches that start slipping when car's not being driven hard for a long period/ :D

Only company i've ever heard off to offer a lifetime warranty on their carbon clutch is RPS.

Best you can do is whip it out and see what's fooked and take it from there.

Possible other options first though like adjustment and any oil under teh gearbox to show that the rear seal may have gone ?

smithy

Its probably only got a lifetime warranty on manufacturing defects, ie if a part of it broke due to bad design, if its a wear issue id wager you wont get far, you have to be quite careful with the z32 exeddy ones as i think they no longer make them and many of the places doing them are "new old stock" and therefor any warranty period has long since expired.

If its gone due to leaking seals causing oil contamination no manufacturer will entertain a warranty claim, i know adl and luk analize their returns to check the plates for oil content, sure the others will do the same.

I had a battle with the nips over mine going tits up in 940 miles lol.Good for 750bhp.It was an Exedy Twin Plate.Took 6 weeks whilst my car was stuck up in the air on mates four poster.I did win the battle in the end and got all my cash back including all parts and labour. They found out that it was a ten year old model and it should not have been in UK stock lol. Settled on a RPS Max and RPS Flywheel off Smithy, cant fault it running 18.9 PSI.

Cheers for the responses guys.

I heard that the clutch needed a bit of abuse every so often, and that it doesnt work well cold. So i went out and gave it some serious stick for a week. But it just got worse. It started off slipping in normal driving and being ok under hard driving, but after all the abuse, im fairly sure its a gonna.

Never thought of the ajustment idea though, thought they were self ajusting.

Look into that i will. The cars only just running a bar and not very healthily.

My last had the rps max organic running 1 bar and i abused that with no probs.

cheers
