Quarter light...

Hmm, some bugger harrassed the Z over the weekend - tried to screwdriver the door handle off, then tried to screwdriver the quarterlight out, then stuck his screwdriver through the quarterlight in frustration.

I don't know what he was trying to achieve - there's no stereo, and the car was on the driveway right outside the bedroom window, so I would have heard the alarm. The only thing the quarterlight would have given him access to is my magic tree, which he didn't bother with... :/

Anyway, it's a SWB import, and now I need new quarterlight glass & trim (and "mouldings"? Or is this what they call trim? God, I know nothing). From a previous post by sedgeworth, am I to understand this is going to be a problem, that 2+2 glass won't fit, and SWB glass would have to be imported or found at a scrappies? Would one of the Z specialist garages have any? Does anyone have a SWB driver's side quarterlight going spare?

I'm just trying to avoid ridiculous expense. Already I have a quote of about £200 or more just to clean up the fumblings around the door handle, and it's kind of in the back of my mind that this could easily happen again, and that there's nothing I can do about it (like I said, it's right outside the window, and there's aleardy a security light on it). From the incompetent nature of the attack, it looks like it was a kid, a very stupid kid - I've seen one walking about at 5a.m. before, fiddling with cars, but I think it's illegal to beat the living shit out of kids, isn't it? Oh well...

Anyway, any comments/helpful suggestions about glass? I'll maybe post on the Wanted board as well smile.gif

OK, scratch that about not worth claiming on insurance - £400 for a TT rear quarterlight?? Ouch....

Anyone know if a TT one will fit a SWB?

I think that any SWB one will fit. I'm sure someone mentioned a breaker (in Manchester??) recently that has a SWB. Good luck ...

if your fully comp, I think you'll only have to pay the first fifty quid or something like that and it doesn't affect your no claims.

Thanks... it's a matter of getting people to understand it's a SWB, and not just a Z32. I think I'll just go through Autoglass and let them sort it out smile.gif

Now all I need is the engine number! Where is it?

Oh, Vijay, you're right - I'd just looked at my cover note & all it had was "£350 compulsory excess," so I figured that was the relevant bit. Checking my proposal form, I see that it's just £60 excess for glass cover. I checked with Autoglass man (wow, I didn't know they had access to all your insurance details too!), and he confirmed smile.gif
