Just something I've noticed...and I'm not the first. 240Z, 260Z, 280ZX, Z31 and Z32 drivers will always give some kind of recognisional gesture when they see each other on the road....but 350Z drivers....NEVER do. It's something the US guys have noticed as well. A complete disregard for the entire Z marque. I am sure most of them don't really know the Z heritage as the Z33 is too new and many that buy them don't appreciate or know about the Z car range. It's no real loss as I've never really liked the Z33, but I'll always acknowledge it as a Z car.

I am sure that in about 10 - 15 years time when most of the remaining examples have fallen into Z enthusiasts' hands will there be a change.

I know that sounds scathing as we have a few Z33 owners on here, but in general, there is no patriotism toward the Z car range from them.

"New the z32 was aimed at the Porsche 911 driver"

Very true MarkZX! So what is the modern equivalent of the Z32? BMW 6 series?

On the way into Bolton today a black 350z came up behind me - i pulled into the left lane so he could pass (as i was potterijng about and not looking for a race) - instead he just pulled in behind me and followed me for ages - the roads then split and ran parallel to each other and as we were level I coudl see he was checking out my car quite thoroughly - I gave him a friendly wave but he didnt return it!

350 drivers do my head in!

I dont see very many Z33's around, my friend owns one and i wave at him as he goes past, apart from that i wave at supra drivers and people like that. I even had a chat on the supra forums other day with a guy that flashed his lights at me :)

Given that in its day, the UK Z32 was between £36-39K depending on the year and discount available, then you are probably looking at £50-60k GT cars today.

New 6 Series is indeed a good comparison, as is the Jag XK8.....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Z33's are everywhere! lol

I think the lack of recognition is down to the fact that 95% of 350z drivers know nothing of the z cars history, theyve not made a consious decision to buy it theyve looked at audi tt's rx8 etc and decided they want a 350z.

Buying an older Z is a more consious decision, you dont wonder into a showroom for one you have to go and seek them out, because of that reason people research a bit harder into them and id guess about 75% of z32 owners would know the z car history.

Owner of older zeds know the zed story even better thus the higher recognition rate.

When we bought hayleys RX8 we just walked into a dealership and bought it, when i drove it i could summons up a wave for other rx8's but didnt really wave at rx7's etc as i wasnt too interested.

In the zed your more likely to get a wave off the opposition GTO's and Supras than a 350 owner.

9 times out of ten you will get a wave from s13's and s14s but less likely to get the sane response from a skyline, as they always look on the zed as one model down from theirs, but we all know different!!

That's true - I get several nods of approval or "thumbs ups" from Supra and GTO drivers (well they have to concede the fact that the 300zx is the best looking of them all:tongue:); I don't get much of a reaction from the 200sx drivers though......
