Ok, im looking at getting a steering wheel of someone. I was chatting with them yesterday and was informed that i would loose my hicas etc on removal of the old wheel. I was told you can get a boss (hub) adaption so i can keep it.

So my questions are

A, is it worth the hassle of buying a hicas keeping boss??

B, If it is where can i get one from??

C, How many people have sacked their hicas??

Cheers

I have a Hicas Boss Kit, which i never installed and I purchased it from ebay australia. It does not have the cruise control though, but you can re-locate the switches off the steering wheel. Andy Duff put a post up on here about a cheap way to diable Hicas is you go down that route.

Marcus is correct, you can retain the HICAS functionality if you install a boss kit with the appropriate plates. I currently have one such boss kit in stock (roughly £92) which also has the connections and buttons to retain cruise control. Very easy to install and will fit most aftermarket wheel (including MOMO) but NOT NISMO wheels.

Eliminating your HICAS is a personal choice. I think a lot of people disable their HICAS because of the perceived performance benefits. I say "perceived" because this is not always the case. If your HICAS arms, outer hub bushes and HICAS hydraulics are all in perfect working order then there is absolutely no reason to disable the system. It aids driving and quite frankly, how often do people push their cars beyond the limit (the limit of the car that is, not their own driving limits which is usually well short of the car's limit)?
