Im looking at getting a second car for daily use. I need an auto or a tiptronic etc so was thinking of a smart car for about £1800 ?? Wouldn't use much fuel and would hold that value for a while.

Any other suggestions?

My daily driver is an automatic....................Subaru Legacy GT 2.0 twin turbo :D ......................its not very economical though :mac1:

The toyota yaris diesel is really economical so is the diesel corsa....dirt cheap to run....68MPG of something stupid like that...

The 1.0 Litre Vauxhall Corsa's are insurance group 1 and they do 55mpg. I think there are some auto versions knocking about.

Also the 1.0 Corsa is a petrol which is now a good thing. The price gap between petrol and diesel is ridiculous and getting worse, so any diesel car now has to do an aweful lot more MPG to justify it.

not a typo is it ?

probably some sort of scam. As it got price listed in 2 differnt places, so doubt typo....and clams you have to email him only, not phone...hmmm

hay dont laugh till ya tried one.

Im telling ya its perfect. all you need to finish it off is a sticker:

My other car is a Z

They will undrstand.

lol, or do that thing like the Van with the mazda rx8 on the side, and get a vinyl copy of the z for the side of it, lol

i think this day and age if lets say you had £2000 then it makes more sense to buy 4 years motoring in the form of 4 £500 bangers ( 1-1200cc) and as each car fails and breaks down just take it to the local scrapy and get a ton for scrap value..the way things are going i dont see the point in buying diesels anymore as eyes has stated due to diesel costs:(

Yep that true Brian, im just a bit vien and don't want to drive a £500 car, :D

:rofl::rofl:typical lundoneeerrrrr;)

somthing along these lines?? http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/VAUXHALL+ASTRA/Ne-2-4-5-6-7-8-27-44-49-53-61-64-67-103-133-146-236,N-13-41-63-145-4294966635-4294966969/search.action

small auto astra! little petrol engines are the way forward, besides diesels and autos just dont work well from my experience, might have the torque but you loose all the power through the transmission. Unless its a proper diesel engine! i.e 3.0 plus!

MK3 and MK4 Astras were not available with Auto trans on diesel.

I'd go for an Omega 6-cyl diesel auto. Omegas are very good cars, Vauxhall were always good at making good RWD motors and they Omega diesel is fitted with a BMW unit. Extremely comfortable, fully loaded. I've always liked the look of them too.

unless its a common rail, a diesel just isnt worth it anymore, a diesel 2.5l omega auto would barely make 25mpg round town!

I never said they did make an automatic diesel astra, hence why i said small petrol engines were the way forward...

The disadvantages of a diesel engine (smell, irritating noise and performance) plus its horrific fuel cost its go to do at least 50mpg to make it worth it.

Even fast diesel everyoen always says "not bad, for a diesel" because its not as good as the petrol lol. Hate driving diesels fast, its infuriating.... they dont rev properly, cant stand that woolly rev limiter where your not sure if its worth trying to rev it or change and let it build boost again. Does my head in. Rant over.
