"New York's such a wonderful city. Although I was at the library today.

The guys are very rude. I said, "I'd like a card." He says, "You have to

prove you're a citizen of New York." So I stabbed him."

yeah, I'm pretty sure people on here have got 6x9's in. I think you just have to cut away some of the metal behind. Just one thing before you go out and buy those 6x9's -measure the distance behind the speaker to the glass, you don't want to buy speakers where the magnets are just too big.

Hi,

I sqeezed 6x9's in to my doors ok - best to remove the metal plates that accommopdate the original speakers.

I had to shave off some of the speaker surround though as the final size was 10x7.

Here is a picture of the modified grill/surround:

I attached the speakers to the door trims rather than to the door shell - much easier to live with.

Also available in black/white/green/blue/silver - does that cover everyone?

also sqeeeeeeeezed 6x9's in. I used the metal mounting plate, ground the inside out, rewelded it as the outside of the plate mated up to my speakers quite nicely.

does take a bit of faffing about tho - dont expect them just to drop in!! biggrin.gif

If you use the 6x9 also it better to cut some mdf and screw them to it to give a bit of support on your door card and give a better sound as well.I did mine the other day have a look.

If you are going to fix speakers direct to the doors fix them to MDF first, there will be a big difference in sound as the door will resonate without it.

Does anyone have pictures showing how to mount 6x9s in the rear. it's not easy? Perhaps my Infinify Kappas are just too deep.

Jez.

ps. Don't want to cut any plastic visable.
