Just changed the pcv's and the two hoses connecting to the valves as the car was smoking from the passengers exhaust whilst at temperature, mostly at idle, I took the car for a short run til up to temp, but it is still smoking and it smells oily, the car runs perfect and is boosting at 1 bar with no problems, do you think its time for the dreaded new turbos? Is their any way of checking the rear turbo seals? or is their anyone who lives near pembroke in Wales who knows their stuff, if I were to get new turbos, I think i'd go for the jwt530's. To get low 400's, i'd need to change the injectors ( 555 ) upgrade the intercoolers and get it remapped, are their any other mods that I would need to do to get complete reliability from my z, at the momment it has straight through exhaust, blitz air filter, boost jets (14psi), any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi mate, did you change the back pcv pipe as well, it runs along the back of the engine towards the windscreen. Worth trying before you think about changing the tubs.

But if you do decide to change the tubs for 530bb's then yes 555's would be your best option. The stock injectors max out around 14.5 psi. The stock turbo's are good for 16 psi. So putting bigger turbo's on and keeping stock injectors makes no sense really.

In terms of other mods...

If you are going with 530bb's then they are 5 stud, stock tubs are 4 stud, so you will need new downpipes for a start.

If you are running stock cooling, then yes I would suggest upgrading the intercoolers and Radiator.

Apart from that and unless you want to start spending a bit more money that will see you good.

Personally with my jwt530bb's I also upgraded to the following:

Nismo 555's

Weisco 98mm forged pistons

Gred Dupree Manifolds

Greg Dupree Down pipes

Gred Dupree Flexi pipes

Greddy SMIC's

Howe Rad

Nismo oil cooler

Doolz Twin Pop Induction

Electric Fan

Lightweight underdrive pulley

1 piece carbon driveshaft

RPS max street clutch

Billet lightweight flywheel

Leigh,

Did you replace all 5 hoses that came with the kit I sent you? If not then there may still be some oily residue in the system which will need to burn off over time - give it a few days ...

There is no easy way to check the rear turbo seals as you'd need to take the turbos off for that which means removing the engine. At that stage you may as well replace the turbos.

If you're going for the JWT530BB's then you'll also need 5-bolt down pipes. Further to the mods you've already listed I would advise you invest in a reliable electronic boost controller as boost jets aren't the most reliable things especially at high boost.

Let me know if I can help source the turbos and downpipes.

I know, I will change them one day, have you got a rough idea on your 0-60 times with those mods, are they 5.5 seconnds standard?

iff you take off the upper boost pipes..the ones fitted to throttle bodies and have a look on the inside, iff there covered in oil then thats a good indication the seals are leaking
