I (still) love my Z.......

I got my Z back last week - it's the first time ever it has been off the road.

Initially it failed its first MOT (during my ownership) back in April on HICAS joints. I got that fixed a month ago but the auto box was playing up so I still felt a bit negative towards the car.......

I thought about a manual conversion or buying a 2nd had auto box etc etc, but in the end decided a 2nd hand box (either auto or manual) my fail again in the near future. So one full 'box re-build later and the car is as good as new:hyper:

I used the Z all weekend, and, after smoking almost a full tank of Shell's finest in just 185 miles (:nono:) I remember why I love this car. It feels so good passing lines of slow traffic on a rural A-road on a Sunday morning:cool: Even after spending £1200-ish on the 'box and over £400 in parts and labour on the HICAS bits....!!!

Still, in over 5 years it's still the only real expense I've had so I don't think it's all bad. I've just the wheel allignment to get sorted (and maybe the front tension rod bushes) now and it will be perfect!!!

Richard:hyper:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Nice that you're keeping a quality looked after and original UK Z on the road Richard! Nice one! I felt like I'd almost lost interest in mine for a while, but find a good road or two and enjoy how the car feels and it quickly becomes reality why we like the cars so much.

So true Si.....

........whenever I thought about the car locked in my garage doing nothing I felt it was a terrible waste. I'm pleased it's fixed now and once I got it back out on the road, doing what a ZX does best, I forgot about the small matter of recent cost etc:hyper:

At the end of the day, nothing else really comes close for the value, regardless of the few £K you have just shelled out. All cars this age will cost money. But you have one of the best for the value.

I was talking to Maddie's Dad the other night about 300zxs, as, strangely enough, he used to manage a Nissan dealership. He now runs a huge BMW dealership in Warwick, so is used to dececnt high performers and he has often mentioned how good the Z32s were to drive and still are as well as their looks. He things in the time they were out on release in the UK, only 3 new ones passed through his dealership.

That's so true.

In the time I have owned it, this is the first real spend on fixing a problem so for a high performance car of its age, £1600 odd in 5-6 years is nothing really!

It's certainly nothing in return for the driving pleasure I get from the car and of all the cars I've owned, nothing has ever "moved" me as much:bow:
