Just wondered what clutches people were using as not sure who's are the best. Will be running 500bhp+

I have an os-giken triple plate clutch... very light on the foot but bites like nothing else i have driven. Takes a while to get use to and the noise(sounds like a small bag of coins jingling) when you put your foot down on the clutch pedal, this is due to the 3 plates hense the name triple plate. To sum it up GET one!:bow:

Mind you this clutch is costly but wont let you down when your running 500bhp

I think all tripple plate clutch sound like that muffin :). I've been in 3 zed's now with tripple plates and they all make the same rattling noises, 2 of them you have to heal toe to change down a gea as well.

what about a carbon clutch

I'll have a RPS Max Street clutch in stock in a few days which provides 700lbs of clamping force whilst still feeling like a stock clutch. It can easily cope with 579 lbft of torque and has been used on Z32's running massive power (700+ bhp).

I have that clutch fitted with RPS Segmented flywheel .Can't fault it.Got it from Smithy:bow::bow::bow:Highley recommended.

Triple plate clutches are a PITA they have a biting point of two nanomillimetres and are heavy on the pedal, but the good point is they do the job. I would go for the rps one much more suited to what you are after!

Which triple plate are you talking about and do you mean it is an easy a pedal to push down as stock?

i have an rps max brilliant bit of kit !

Mikes os giken is as light as a stock clutch.I was amazed after driving it then pulling the engine to find a triple plate clutch.

uumm the triples/twins I have driven have been heavier, maybe I have delicate tootsies :D

If thats your goal then fit the RPS carbon carbon not cheap but well worth the outlay.

Yes thats what I have fitted like I said its not cheap at around £1.600 but you wont have to worry about replacing it as the carbon plates are very hard wearing. But even better than that the bite feels like a stock clutch:cool:

Going to do a bit of research on RPS first and then others that get suggested.

 

With the amount I've spent on the engine and interior so far the carbon one is out:(

My os.giken is as light as stock on the pedal and has not once slipped.

does anyone rate the z1 clutches???

for 500 bhp i would say an os giken twin, then the rps carbon twin like macs got, i wouldnt say anything else as it will just wear out fairly quick on a genuine 500 bhp, both very good clutches but obviously cost wise the os is much cheaper and can handle upto 600 bhp with a good feel and a decent bite, the carbon is still a little snatchy but rated to over 1000 bhp!!! so great clutch but as mac says not cheap at £1500-£1600 LOL

RPS Street Sport is your best bet for value and performance....Remember to spend a bit extra £8/£10 on a new pivot ball when you fit any one though!!

The RPS Street sport would last all of about 5 mins with 500+ horses unfortunatly. A good clutch for cars with stock turbos though.
