That place, and I can't spell it either, is not very close to the pyramids. But yes, I have been a couple of times and I really like it there. Can't stand Cairo though - it's hell on Earth.

yeah cairo is a bit hectic thats why i would rather stay at shamel & there is a beach there too, have had a quick look at tours from shamal & its 190usd pp to fly to cairo and see all the pyramids ect or there is a bus ride but i dont fancy sitting in a bus for hours LOL!!

Cairo is mental!

When we went few years ago - dual carriage way, but there were 7 cars all squished up making their own lanes and pushing and shoving  maniacs!

And a flaming herd of cows crossing the road @ the traffic lights in the city centre  Crazy! (but what an experience)

Sharm-el-Sheikh is really popular - not been there myself, but given the chance - I'd go back to Egypt in a heart beat! Beautiful, hot, and loads to do!

Egypt is a shithole, its well worth going to say youve been, we used to go on alot of cruises when i was a kid, but cos their docks couldnt accomodate big ships they had to dock in port said and thats a proper crap pit. Generally nice people the egyptians though.

I would recommend the Hyatt Regency at Sharm you can go there for a very similar price to the other hotels buit its on its own coastal area with private beaches and diving platform, coral straight off the platform just walk on off the beach they also run scuba from there unlike MOST other hotels where you have to go somewhere else first, I have been there 2 times last time in 2005 but it has always been good, great spa and good pools too with pizza, thai and buffet plus alacarts restaurants and good room service you can also get good sea front rooms.

You have easy access to other facilities too its not really far from the main town too.

you chould be able to pick up good deals from travelagents on the net or via teletext

taba or taba heights is nice ,went there on honeymoon not much to see but the resorts are nice i stayed in a raddisson sas hotel all inc very nice.

went to the Sharm last year! great hotel complex, diving absolutly amazing with a coral reef et the end of the hotels own private beach! scorching weather! great destination!

downside (for me) was if you like going into towns for a lookabout & drink in the evenings its pretty crap & your better off confined to your hotel, so make sure you book a good one!! :D

I have, but never went to the touristy spots. Been to Suez, Port Saʻīd and Alexandria.

wow thats some hotel looks awsome  better have a look round at some prices any ideas where to look?? :hyper:

I went last year and stayed on the coast north of Sharmel Sheikh, we went to Cairo for a couple of days to visit the Pyramids and it is a real dump, a very dirty city.

The people at our resort were all nice and friendly but a bit pushy in Cairo.

We took a bus trip to Cairo, it took about 7hrs, very quiet long straight roads with old crashed cars & lorrys along the road sides.

was in luxor last month.

POINTS TO NOTE

1. MIND YOURSELF CROSSING THE ROADS( NEARLY KILLED)

2. DRIVERS DONT USE LIGHTS AT NIGHT, JUST FLASH THEM.

3. LOTS OF ANNOYING TOUTS.

4. BARGAIN LIKE MAD.( OFFER QUARTER WHAT THEY ASK)

5. IF GOING TO LUXOR ASK FOR SHADI AT THE SHOPS IN FRONT OF IBEROTEL AND HE WILL HELP YOU AND GET YOU WHATEVER U NEED AT WAY BETTER PRICES.

6 DONT BUY ANYTHING ON ANY TRAVEL GUIDED EXCURSIONS AS TRAVEL GUIDE GETS A HUGE COMMISSION. GO BACK TO THE SHOP AFTER THE EXCURSION AND BARGAIN THE SHOP ASSISTANT YOURSELF.

7 NO NOT AND I SAY AGAIN DO NOT DRINK THE WATER. :nono: YOU WILL BE ON THE LOO FOR DAYS AFTER. HAPPENED TO THE LADY IN THE NEXT ROOM, HEARD HER FARTING AND RUNNING ALL NIGHT.

8 AND LAST HAVE A GREAT TIME.
