Just looked under my car, never really looked at the sills in detail for ages but ive just washed the car and a large part of the chipseal stuff underneath came of as i washed the bottom of the sill. The glove must have picked it up.

With the amount of brown under the entire sill, is this the end of my Zed? Also ive noticed a seam down the sill never really noticed it before should this be as it is? Never noticed it on another car before...

Someone tell me its all going to be okay! Feel :hurl: atm!

Also this is the drivers side rear arch... the sill on this side looks okay. Well alot better than the passenger side.

Its not the end of your car............................................yet!

but you do need to do something about it now.

Get a twist knot wire cup brush into the angle grinder and strip both sills back to bare metal (or holes)!!! Then you will see the extent of the problem. you will need to cut out the rusty metal and weld in some new stuff. When you cut open the outer cover -sill you will then be able to see how far in to the inner sills the rot has spread..

Failing that I will take it off your hands for £500:rolleyes:

Gimme a call when you stop crying if you want:wack:

So what about that seam in the middle of the sill below the door. Is that ment to be visable? Never noticed it on another car before.

How much as a rough guide will it be to repair all the sills. Half wondering wether its worth breaking and just getting another one.

I have the same seam....Pressumed the car had had some dodgy sills replaced in the past as mine are fine but seeing yours rusty maybe theres another reason?

Infact thinking about it the seams go right into the door shuts...............maybe i actually have 2 Zeds  :wack:

FFS stop worrying. Its the join where the outer cover sill overlaps the main outer sill.

Just as Nissan intended:rolleyes:

:D:D:D

Just get it into a bodyshop and get it repaired. same happened to mine and cost me £200 to get fixed.

after some battering with a screw drivers it would appear that it doesnt require a patch.

I attacked it with a bit of sand paper and its come almost immediatly back to bare metal. Do we think its going to be okay, this is by far the worst bit, the rest of it is slightly bubbling so i was thinking removing all the chip seal and get it resprayed... perhaps have both sides done at the same time and the arches?

So i shall be making an appointment with a bodyshop as soon as ive got either my other car back on the road (xsara has a new fuel pump on the way) or get my company van...

prob is its rusting from inside out, thats why the stone chip stuff has popped off, its prob ya targa drains blocked with rust, mine did this, luckily for me my dad is handy with a welder

so if thats the case, how do you unblock the drain holes Allan?????

Im not sure mate, it looks to be cleaning up fairly nicely. I'll have to seek professional opinion but its not as bad as i first thought... Maybe over dramatised it a but, i was of the opinion before that it was about to drop to pieces on the drive!!!

well when you get it repaired PLEASE make sure you get some waxoil inside the sills

mine didnt look too bad, try poking a screwdriver through the sill, if its solid you wont be able to put it through, if its fooked you will

the drain pipes have metal attachments on the end of them at the bottom of the sill that keeps them attached to the sill, these rust and the pipe dangles about inside of the sill and slowly rots them away, will show ya the pipe at the jap meet on sunday bud

Ouch. :(

I dread mine going like that which is why I never take it out in the rain or winter.

I did, if you look above ive bashed around with a screwie and then sanded whats left. Got back to bare metal very quickly and it seems very solid.

Cheers Matey

Exactly!!

All Z32s have this seam - although I can see why some peeps may be worried, reading advice from general car buying guides about "cut & shuts":p

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
