I know last weekend there was a r33 skyline and Mazda Rx7 both with V8`s running the time attack at Silverstone, Maybe you could research the Time attack cars entered and contact these guys...just an idea

There are a few V8 300zx's around. However, there is so much to consider...

It sounds like you intend to have your ENGINE removed by a garage and have the work done. If you intend to send your car to a garage and a v8 ( as yet undecided) fitted to it, it would cost the earth.

So first thing to decide, can you do it yourself in your own facilities and in your own time?

If that comes back as yes, you need to find out what fits and what you can get hold of engine wise... there are one or two conversions ongoing/complete (im not sure actually) with the Nissan VH45 V8, so you could perhaps get some pointers there do a search perhaps..

Also the GM LS1 engine is a popular yank conversion (one or two around here as well i think??)

So then youve got to think about some transmission, Auto or Manual? What will fit the engine your getting?

Then once thats all decided we need to find some looms and electronics to control the engine and other systems on the car etc.

Then you need to think about rebuilding the V8 engine so its ready to go into the car, what are you going to do with that, standard tune motor? Or Supercharge it (will it fit etc)

Then you need to get all the bits and start work..... Ive not even scratched the surface there so its not a case of putting a v8 ENGINE in the car... alot more too it than that.

You could do it in 2 weeks!:smash:

No, YOU could do it in two weeks, it would take me two years to find the parts!

Unless you want to do one in two weeks for me :D;)

As above, I have done a few engine changes and swaps in my time and it's not straight forward. You need to get the plan sorted in your head first before going anywhere near the car. I thought about project 1 for a few months before I started to go for it and that still the V6 lump.

Think about the points above for a few weeks then decide.

As above, there are a few of us who are doing/have done it. From my point of view it's been a bit of a slog and I'm not quite there yet. If you can't do the work yourself then I'd say it would be a non starter unless you've got a LOT of cash, and from what I've seen of

'professional' engine swaps they generally leave a lot to be desired.

I don't think they are all not capable of doing a decent job, but the hours needed to do the job properly on something quite complex, such as the Zed, doesn't make financial sense.

If you've got the money for a decent v8 with a proper drivetrain to match, and pay someone reliable to fit it properly, then I'd say you'd be better off spending it on a nice newer performance car.

I'd have to agree as well.

Manta did his himself and I think Friday is doing the Nissan Infiniti conversion. However if you don't have the time or expertise to do it yourself then don't bother - it's just not economic sense mate!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
