So far the screen has two ruler lines down it and a third that keeps flickering

 

secondly the power supply which came with the thing decided to stop. so Bought a new one lasted about 4 months then the tip decided to melt so i wired up a new tip from an old 2.5mm adapter onto the end.

Thirdly the internal power supply socket connector melted and broke which was mainly down to the power supply getting hot so ive just removed and soldiered a new one on all seems well now so im quite happy for now.

 

Ive also been through 3 hard drives!!!!!! first one just froze second one has sucked up a nice virus tried formatting but its still there so ive bought a new one and all is well so far so. Cant be bothered with virus progrmas as they are just created by the buggars who develop virus's anyway and i think its just a big scam.

 

The first wireless card i had went weak and could only pick up from c0lose distances so switched one round from an old acer laptop which has a buggard screen!!!! Dont make me start on that one.

 

All in all ive restored this laptop 3 times i think.

 

Anyone else using Acer? fun arnt they :D

 

mines an old acer aspire 1800 good with games and watching films as it has a massive crystal front 17" wide screen, looks battered now as ive opened it up more times than a tin of pickled onions.:mad:

 

oh and the battery only lasts 20 mins tops.

Try looking on http://www.filehippo.com for avg stuff. The version 8 does anti spyware as well.

 

The battery will not last forever especially the way you seem to have abused the power supply to it.

 

Just my opinion anyway.

 

At the end of the day you get what you pay for as well and acers are not exactly state of the art top of the range machines.

havent been on line much as... sitting there one day chatting to the mrs on MSN.. then pooooooofffffff a little bit of smoke and nada... grrr, was gonna buy a new one next month any way... so i now have a Packard bell sitting in the corner of the room in more bits than it was origonally designed with ;) lol any way now i'm back with an all singing all dancing HP... must say i'm v impressed with the build quality.. and the functions and features... the only thing that bugs me and it is a little thing is, that when you turn off the wireless the blue tooth turns off two... and there is no way to switch them indipendantly....

I actually googled this laptop and it seems the reviews were quite good and stated that batteries did actually only last 25 mins from new so sounds normal to me.

iv'e always prefered to build my own desktops. not a fan of laptops

i have a packard bell easy note, seems ok, only use my laptop for this site and porn, had it a few years now, got it new and paid just under £400 for it, pc world put the wrong price on it, think it shopuld have been closer to £700 for it lol

my laptop burns my legs, when i rang IBM support to say it was overheating they said your not supposed to sit it on your lap???? Also the battery never even lasted a year, i must have used the battery about 5-6 times and they said your not supposed to keep the battery in when using it from the mains, so what happens if there is a power cut and there's no time to save my porn lol.

i always use my laptop at the table plugged into the mains, ive never used the battery (prob fooked now lol)

Yeah mine burns the crap out of my lap, gets very hot, nice for those cold winter days though, it used to overheat and turn off, but a quick blow through the heat vents and a face full of dust and it doesnt anymore :D
