Hi guys

My car has been blowing slightly warm air for about a year so i decided yesterday to get the air con recharged> All was fine when i got it back as it was blowing ice cold air but when i tried it today and put the temp to 10 and pressed auto its back to warmish air again?

I was told there was no pressure reading on the air con specialists machine when he done it and he said that the could possibly be a leak and it might only last a few days or weeks before it goes warm?

Has anyone else had a problem like this and if it is leaking is it an expensive repair the air con is needed these days with the warm weather we get lol

you can have a dye added to the recharged air con gas / fluid, to help you detect any leaks.

hey ronco

had my aircon tested at ZEDWORLD in tamworth last week and they are spot on with what they know!!!!

tested the system and there was a leak, so informed me and advised it was not worth charging the system as it would only last a few days.

hats off to the guys at ZEDWORLD, they are good, honest and above all, know what they are doing.

alan.

Where are you? There's a one man company that comes to you and did mine with a drop in compatible replacement refridgerant, not the R134 or whatever is usual these days. He is local to Falkirk and west central. The zed runs at very high pressure as it is and the system locks out the compressor once the pressure in the low pressure side drops below a certain level, 30 psi I think.

The cost to fix a leak depends on where its at. Probably the condenser in front of the rad or possibly compressor seals. He should have been able to see this actively during vacuuming and pressure testing. i'e the tests fail! Mark who did mine injected fluorescent dye but mine was sound - till the engine had to come out and they let the lot go! So I need to get him in again. Autokool was his company and location Bonnybridge. maybe 01324 815525

WillieO i am in Kilmarnock,i think my car runs on the R134a,iirc they changed it on the later Zeds and there is a label on the engine bay panel stating R134a...all in japanese though lol. I remember when i got the car i could hear the compressor clicking on and off,no when i switch on the air con the compressor clicks and runs all the time without clicking off.I'll take a note of that number and when i get back from holiday try and arrange something.

if you decide to go along the dye route PLEASE don't get it on you clothers or skin cos it poisonous and it does'nt come off

Hi mate

You need to get someone who will gas up an older system. My Pajero was attempted by a bloke with a system which was only for newer cars. I have been told that these older systems run at much higher pressure than new ones. This can show up as low pressure or no pressure when trying to fill it up.

Mine was running warm last summer so I had it recharged with R134 at Kwik-Fit and no leaks were identified. After a few weeks it was running warm again so I took it back and they recharged it again (for free) and double checked for leaks......none identified.

They said that if it ran warm again after a few weeks, there was probably a leak from the connectors (which is why their equipment didn't register any leak).

Sure enough, after a few weeks it ran warm again so I guess the connectors are leaking. Anyone know where to obtain them and how to fit them?

yeah me too.i also took it to kwik fit as they were advertising it for £44,all they said to me is that there was no pressure in it and said the recharge should sort it out but never mentioned checking it for leaks,he just said there might be one, so i'm guessing mine prob has a leak somewhere too and their equipment never detected it either
