just got my car back from thor racing who fitted and mapped greddy emanage and prefec e01 boost con, heres the results:

all ive done so far is super drager exhaust, apexi intake, turbo xs dump valves, and now the emanage and profec e01, running as 17psi, althou i think il mainly run it at 14psi and ive used the overtake boost button to run at 17psi, which ive set to toggle rather than on a time limit!

just wondering how other ppls results compare with similar mods, i was quite impressed with the gains!

oh and both results are at the wheels, he just forgot to cross out 'fly' on the left graph!

the blue line is at 14psi, red is at 17 and yellow at standard 9

740's only fit zeds (without modifications) after 1994

They can only be fitted in pre 94 zeds with either a lotta work or using 300 degree fuel rails.

ah so as i have a 95z i should be ok lol

get bigger ones for cheaper lol

Yep you can fit em so that's a bonus for you, takes a little work to do though and you can use your e-mange to take care of fueling, but still get coolers 1st....

smithy

your car was 280bhp at the wheels as standard???!

I think those are flywheel figures personally...

Hi David where did you get the information that stock turbos were efficient at 17 psi, and I have got to admit, just because Thor mapped the car I don't think there is anyway the injectors are working as they should.

Also IIRC the emanage manipulates the AFR by altering the signal from the AFM, is this still how it works?

  • Author

well thor dude said they are at the wheel, they use the dynomometer that bolts to the hub and he said it doesnt calculate flywheel power but to add bout 20% for that!

plus if the car is sposed to be bout 300bhp as standard it makes sense its only 280 now (before map)!

its a 95zx

Lee why don't you come along to the rolling road day in surrey and then you can have someone independant check your parameters, details in my signature?

cos im happy with the results i have thanks lol

are u saying hes lying then?

do tuners lie about this kind of thing?

They are 280bhp as standard, only ever quoted as 300bhp on the american manual model...

http://www.ttxtz.com/specs.html

ive read many places that the zx was 280 up till like 1990 or sommin then went to variable valve timing and become 300bhp, then in 1996 it lost the vvt due to emissions and went back to 280!

VVT was there from the very start and was dropped in 1996.

In the U.S the car is quoted at 300hp for Manual, and 280 for Auto.

In Europe and Japan the car is quoted as 280bhp(276bhp actually) for the Manual and 263 for the Auto.

Wether there is really a difference between the regions is anyones guess though ! Every car is different anyway.

Lee have got to admit, I am disappointed to see that you have been a member for 5 years and not joined the club :(

well i prefer the american spec then! lol

so is that quote at the fly or wheels?

cos now im confused! thor def said it was at the wheels them results! cos they were saying how u can calulate the flywheel horse power on a rolling road but cant on the dynomometer that connects to hub, but he said its much more accurate at wheels than rolling road!

and im sorry to disapoint u topless, it saddens me to see u upset! but what do i get for joining lol

throw in some greddy intercoolers and im there!!

or is it more of a donation for the site runners?

Maybe i can answer both of those for you fella.

It's good your happy with the results, people generally are if they look favourable! however you could dyno your car at 3 garages on the same day and they would all give different final bhp readings. What the mapper inputs, the ambeient temperature and even what part of the Uk your at plays apart in the final figure. Now as said, your right at the limit if not just over what many would say is a safe area to be, for the cost of another dyno run whilst meeting other fellow zedders, to me would confirm your figures are about correct, but also a second opinion on the other parameters within tuning an engine, being correct, this would give either give you total peace of mind all is correct and safe or consider taking on board the advice given here. Because your happy with the power, i think you don't want to consider the latter, many have thought that way before and am sure they wished they hadn't!

Now as for joing, yep you get the usual stickers, tax disc and magazine etc but you also get to use the Group buy, the buy and sell facillity, which you previously have, but won't be able to now.

But more importantly information from the correct source that could save you more £'s than you could ever expect. If you take on board the posts in this long thread and do as advised, potentially you could save at least 100 times the subscription money!! In fact looking through your previous posts, we've given you lots of help and advise over the years which has gotta be worth a lot more than the paltry subscription fee asked Or you can carry on using non 300zx specific websites/forums as your previous link and get possible incorrect info!

Am not saying we will stop replying to your requests, however i would expect at some point, replies will be fairly thin on the ground and after 5 years, i think you could be at that point!

Oh and certainly any more frigging "lols" when there's nothing funny about what your posting, i'll not bother replying with help and i really like to think after all these years, i do know Zeds!

Smithy

Not bad figures at all mate if you have stock tubs and injectors. You got yourself a good solid engine there by the looks fo your graph.

But as I mentioned back in 2004 in my post http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=39484

Just goes to show that the injectors are maxing out between 14.5 - 15 psi. So I would say if you are running stock injectors, you may as well stick at 14.5 psi and preserve the life of your stock turbo's a little longer
Obviously running lean at high Boost and RPM is not going to help your pistons much either.

Do you have the Air / Fuel graphs as well that you can post up ?

  • Author

engines been good so far.

i have put it down to 14psi for norm now, but 17 is only an overtake boost button away

il just have to start saving for intercoolers and injectors grrr

nah didnt get any fuel or air graphs, got a boost and vacuum graph if thats any good?

power drops much earlier in the revs now, like 6 to 6.5k, so this must help a little maybe?

(note: had to edit out 5 'lol's as some ppl frown upon this!)

  • Author

wow what a reply from smithy!! despite my questioning and wanting an excuse to run 17psi i have already dropped it to 14 as advised by the wise ppl of the forum!

dont be offended by my visiting other forums, that was merely a google search result!

this is the only site i belong to, despite the bullying and near blackmailing to pay the money or not get replies anymore! i mean where is the warm loving community feeling this site once had????

and in 5 years ive done (up until this thread) 50 posts, which is not really bleeding the site of its wisdom is it! im fine with supporting the site as its a very good site but dont think ppl should be pressured into it, i mean if u want ppl to pay then make it all subscription or allow ppl to use the free info for free surely? dont worry il pay as i dont want to be outcast! what colour do the stickers come in?

look no lols either (except that one) ;)

i can do winks right?

naaaa mate we didnt pressure you, im sure everyone would have been just as helpful even without your subscription. makes no difference to us anyways. Its all for the love of the z32 we dont wanna see another zed broken and off the road :D you say your in london? where abouts?

  • Author

what ya mean? the advice is great, i didnt in anyway mean or say it wasnt did i?
