Hello peeps. dont know if anyone can help me,but a couple months ago i had my cambelt changed by a well known zed garage. now the other day my mate,who is a mechanic,was taking a look at the engine of my zed(my motor being a '91 tt) and told me he noticed my cas was adjusted to the right as far as it would go. this means nothing to me but he told me that it was pretty strange for the cas to be in this position. he said it should really be adjusted bout half way. now im a bit worried,has the zed garage that changed my belt timed it wrong by any chance or am i worrying bout nothing? car is running fine by the way,cheers guys.

dont take this as gods word but its a very good indication the belts a tooth out:(

sounds like they compensated by advancing it all the way to the right, Basically find someone who can tell you for sure that its a tooth out then take it back to the guys who did the job and let them know the score.

or simpler go back and ask them why its right over:D

that is the way the cas goes if it is left loose or the ignition needs retarding due to the belt being out one tooth as earlier suggested ! check the bolts aren't loose and if there not take it back !

ah yes right is retard left is advance always get them wrong way round. If you went back to them and asked WHY they would prob just give you a load of *****x so be 100% sure first. But check its not loose like paul said.

under no circumstances touch it untill you,ve been back bud..dont give them a get out clause;) they would have to re-do it

or your cas could be faulty, i have just had mine replaced, on earlier cars it can be a problem !
