show me ya painted Plenum..... opinions/suggestions/methods but NOT powder coating

sorry for all the new threads on painting etc and yes i know im the spam king but i still need a little help too now and again:(

just want some advice on painting the plenum and making it look nice and glossy although im not very fussy.

Was thinking of giving it a rough sand then painting with a cherry red hammerite paint but will it have a nice shine to it? could i use a laquor to finish it off?

Thanks.

p.s Its a diy so powder coating os out the question.

that was taken today just after a coat, a few hours late it looks the same, once its hardend it will look better. But seems to take ages to harden, ive got a couple heaters near it see if it helps.
