i have a chance of buying a really nice set of wheels at a good price, but this is my problem, the wheels are the same size front and rear, 8" wide with 265 40 18s tyres, atm im using 255 40 17rears and 235 45 17

the sons at home are saying the same size all round wont suit the shape of my car, plus the wheels im thinking of are off an r33gtr which is 4 wheel drive but the z works better with a staggered size

i will be guided by the advice of experts on here, thanks:D

i have a photoshop pic of these new wheels in my pm folder how do i get it out of there to post it onto this thread

if they fit then you might have to fit spacers on the rear but i think you will find with that size tyre on they are gonna at least a 9j wheel and might catch your front struts etc !

IMO.....:nono::nono:

Point 1. as already said. 265 is for most people too wide at the front. Just not necessary for you and your car/style of driving.

Point 2. 265/40-18 is too tall for a 300ZX. 265/35 -18 is generally accepted as "correct"

Point 3. You havent mention the all important "offset". 300s need to have the correct offset both front and rear or you will end up with extra expense and messing with spacers , longer studs etc.

Point 4. With any rear wheel drive car like a 300 having narrower at front and wider at back makes sense from a traction point of view and also from the "look"

All IMO of course.

somebody else will be along to say " Ive got these sizes and I like them etc"

thanks for that pete i neglected to say that i am buying without tyres, the guy selling was using 265/35 but suggested i go 40 as the 35 gave a bit of an uncomfortable ride, i will contact him later about offset etc
