my clutch is leeking air somewhere near the pedal and causing the clutch to be heavy and the brakes to not work.

what parts do i need? is it a whole pedal/master cylinder or just a seperate servo bit?

try checking the hoses first, but it there is a high chance of it being the servo unit itself

Seems to be a common problem, there's been a few posts about it.

I think the clutch servo assist unit packs in and is expensive to replace.

you can blank off the pipe going to the servo, that will give you your brakes back but the clutch peddal will be heavy.

ian i have loads of servo units if yours is faulty FOC !

Now thats an offer you cant refuse :)

I thought most of these were sold as part of the auto to manual conversions

cool, yes please, is it something i can just unbolt and bolt the new one on.i asume its on the back end of the metal pipe poking through the bulk head into the engine bay.

i've pulled the flexible hose of said solid pipe and sealed the end and my brakes are now working. but i'm not going to be driving far without fixing the clutch

did the stock NA manual come with a servo assisted clutch like the TT does?

the online manual seems to sugest to me it didn't

if it did where did it get its vacuum feed from as the TT seems to have extra vacuum tanks for it?

i had the feeling it came straight off the balance bar (and that is why NA manual and auto balance bars are different) but now i'm not so sure

No, the NA is not assisted. The TT Clutch assistant gets is feed from the balance bar.

so do NA drivers have stronger leg muscles than TT drivers?

or is the NA clutch lighter?

now i don't have " assistance" i can only drive for about 10 minutes before my knee gives up working

NA clutch is a lot lighter, less clamping force. TT clutch is a heavy bugger without assistance. I noticed paul dug out a Clutch servo for you the other day, not sure if its been posted yet
