Just heard back from the guy.

 

As the posting states, the pedals should be $79 dollars a set but for group buys of 5 or more, he can do them for $59 dollars, where we make an overall saving is on the shipping.

 

$59 dollars works out at around £37.49 at the current exchange rate. I am still waiting to find out what the shipping charges will be for 5 sets or more so I would expect a few more £££ to be added to the £37.50. Cant see it going over £45 though.

 

I'll keep you posted.

From what I can tell, the pedal on the left of the 4 is for the foot rest and so is shaped to fit either side.

I was supposed to be over there this week but that got cancelled. I will be going within the next three weeks though. I always find it best to ship via www.USPS.com if shipping things from the US. It takes a little longer, costs less and is much less likely to get taxed on the way in.

 

I just checked and if the pedals are less than four pounds they can be sent via Global Priority Mail for $9.

Obviously, the more people that buy, the cheaper the postage will be. For 10 sets, we are looking at a postage rate of about $10 - $12 dollars each. This is registered post and with insurance. I am talking in $$$ cus I will be using www.USPS.com. They have a more user friendly web site than UPS and seem to be better priced.

This the story so far.

 

It looks like USPS is going to be the chosen method of transport but the guy needs to have the funds by the 3rd of Aug so I will be looking to send the funds on Monday 29th July. Hence, I need to know final numbers by the 24th and all cheques/money should be on my doorstep by 25th.

 

As mentioned before, the exact final cost is not known. It will be clearer once I have a final number so that the postage cost can be added and split. However, please bear in mind that there will also be an extra charge for when the kits get here and need sending to your address. Cant imagine it being much though.

 

Shame all this wasn't happening about a month ago, could have given them to you at Billing.

I emailed Anthony (the guy who makes them) and he said they do weigh less than 4 pounds so they can be shipped via Global Priority Mail for $9. Is there a significant discount on having everyones pedals shipped in the same box? If not perhaps we should get them shipped to our own homes without an invoice in the box which is much less likely to attract the attention of customs.

When I said $10-$12, it was an approximation. Anthony could not give me an exact figure because I had not given him a total number.

 

I don't know how willing Anthony is going to be to box up and separately address a load of peddles when it is meant to be a group buy.

For the US group buy he is offering "TTony Group Buy Special Price = $59 shipped (a 25% discount!)" and shipping the pedals out to each purchaser. I would guess he is shipping via USPS Priority Mail at $4 a set which would be the cheapest option. Sending them to us by the international version would cost $5 more per set so the cost should be around $65 each if we just sign on to the TT.net group buy and pay the difference in shipping. Plus there will not be any UK shipping on top which I guess would either take a long time or cost a lot.
