Hey guys, after nearly 2 years of muppets wrecking my engine i've finally got my car back... My mechanic has replaced the oil pump, water pump etc. He says that the car is making 2 bar of pressure whether the engine is hot or cold, Anybody got any ideas what the problem is now:( Is it just a new pressure sensor??

Thanks..

Is that 2 bar all the time? It should fluctuate with the rpm's.

When cold, mine runs about 60 - 90psi. When hot, about 20 - 60psi

probably best to test it with another pressure gauge to make sure its not on-board gauge telling filthy lies (as they do sometimes)

its had my mechanical gauge on it and still 2 bar, was thinking it might be the oil pressure relief valve, but just want to know if anyone had the same problem, before we pull it out(lot of work if its not the problem), as richie said it's just had a new pump(it was making no pressure before) it makes 2 bar now but takes longer that i think it should to make it but holds it no problem, any ideas are wecome

when the pump was replaced, did you check if the oil pickup or oilpan were dented ?

As this is a common cause for oilpressure problems on these cars..

all was ok, and i cleaned them both out, put a bit of compressed air down the feed's when the pump was off, got a good shot of oil out from the crank and the 2 turbo returns, so i don't think they are blocked, think the relief valve will need to come out,

if you're 100% sure it's not a dented sump/oilpan then the only thing I can think of is some failure/problem with the valve that regulates the oil going through the oilcooler or some blockage of the oilfilter tree.

Also, have you tried a different (original Nissan) oil filter ?
