Think JimmyTT ordered a load for his rebuild.

Yeah i bought quite a bit from them but its hard to get a discount, i only managed 80 dollars off a $1700 bill.

But i did manage to buy the rebuild kit minus a few of the bits i didnt need which saved me a bit. I didnt need the cam belt, water pump, tenisoners etc so they sorted me out a separate price..

But make sure you get them to reduce the value on the customs form or you WILL get stung proper.

Hi Gibster

I managed to get a 5% discount off a very large order was about 5K$ and they did a very good deal on shipping for the Shortblock. Speak to JT he was the guy I dealt with.

Yeh, you dont tend to get Discounts from them. But if you reduce the value for customs, be aware that your screwed if anything gets lost or broken along the way!

I've ordered somewhere around £25k-30k of parts from the states in the past couple of years, nothing has gone missing but I have had a few damaged casualties, luckily everything was sent through at full price(had to be really...such large orders and it being purchased as Trade, customs are pretty hot on B2B transactions)...and even got parts of somebody else's order mixed in one of the boxes (customs not paying attention when they open it all up) lol

I've gone for reduced value on stuff myself with stuff from ebay...etc though and been fine.

So im hoping i will get some sort of discount!

radron when you contacted JT was that by phone or Email

Cheers

Save your money Dan. I bought a pair of uprated turbos from them and one failed. they did not want to know. Forget JT, or Johny Turbo as he is known, when my turbo went tits up, he did not respond to 2 messages left and Shawn tried to convince me that something else was wrong with my engine, even though it had just been totally rebuilt with parts boughts from Z1. Some guy, a turbo specialist even told me that the oil feed pipe kit which had been bought from Z1 needed to be braized up and redrilled with a 0.5mm hole as too much oil was getting to the turbo. In the end they sent me a CHRA which is the core of a turbo, but the engine has to once again come out to fit it, can you afford to pay for this. Failed turbos are the stuff off reasonable mileage or decatting, this turbo had 450 miles, and they wriggled like a worm on a hook. To me, this is crap service and of course being overseas you will have to call them. They will not call you back, beleive me, I know from experience. What you buy will have NO warranty even if you spend £1000's with them.

Hey Gibster

Old Zed's advice could be good. I havent had any warranty problems yet so have no way of telling if they are any good. I kind of new this would be a problem but I took the chnace as the cost is nearly half the price of UK goods with the dollar being so weak. I guessed if the tubs died then they still only cost me about 700 squids instead of about 2K. You pays your money and you take your chances. I can highly recomend the garage Ive used though they have been awesome.

Thats only £400 though, bit like buying an exhaust over here on its own and being shocked you haven't got a discount really.

As Legrath says be very careful on de valuing goods too low, it's more a case of damaged goods and you can be stuffed if that happens.

Oldzed is also pretty much correct, for items like turbo's and clutches, if something goes wrong, which it can. The first responce you'll probably get is "incorrect fitting" and you'll have to prove otherwise which isn't always easy! cos the hassle and cost of shipping back simply ain't worth it.

I've just tried to fit a Z1 1 piece prop and can't get it to fit, it's too long. Cost of shipping back and why etc i just know is gonna prove a big pain in the arse!

smithy

my last order from z1 was a tad over $3000... i tried to get as much as i could out of them as it was certainly my single biggest 'money burning' session from them and i thought i had a chance!!... first i tried it on with the car mats they sell but they wouldnt give me, nor would they give me discount on with this purchase :(

in the end i got a free sticker and z nationals dvd

one forum member i know of has spent 10's of k's with z1 over a period of time but even now they give him hassle and grief in the event of a faulty product and still no freebies :(

you pays ya money you take a chance no matter who its with. If things go wrong, its always hard to get an exchange.

Thanx for the info guys!

I think the only thing i will be buying from the Z1 brand is the turbos as the other parts im ordering from them are non mechanical or made by another brand so im guessing they will be spot on

Has any1 had any issues with the gt675rs turbos?

I guessing the turbo itself should be ok as they are made by garrett but would it be a gd idea to get the rest of the parts (eg) oil feeds looked at by a specialist before fitment so hopefully i wont have the same problem as Old zed.

I bought the turbos and oil feed pipes from Z1 at the same time. They used the oil feed pipes as an excuse to not warrant replacing the turbos. The oil feed pipe modification bit actually only applies to turbos fitted with proper bearings and not the bushed type. To be quite honest at this point I was considering replacing both of them with new turbos bought elsewhere and selling the old ones on Ebay.com as being purchased from Z1, done 450 miles and totally w@nked, just for the publicity. Their aftersales is unbelievably negative, i.e.non existant. Warranty to Z1means 'blame something else' or dont respond at all.:(

My last tubs were bought in the UK and I got no warranty as I was told that they had failed because they had been fitted incorrectly?

Sadly this seems to be a trait with car parts, and it even applies when the parts are fitted by a garage. It's a copout.

Well, just to add insult to injury regarding the faulty turbo, Jimmer received an email today from Z1 asking if he had sent the old turbo back. What a bloody cheek, just so they can redo the damn thing and sell it on again. Z1 Motorsport, they are only interested in one thing.......... money.

First off let me assure you that your last statement is simply incorrect. I'm not aware of the situation with your turbos but I'm afraid there may have been some miscommunication. We have no problem covering the shipping cost to get the center cartridge back for inspection. We have very few problems with our journal bearing turbos and absolutely no issues with our Garrett GTBB turbos like the GT675RS kits. Someone will be contacting you tomorrow to help resolve the problem. We have high regards for our UK customers and strongly value your buisness. Your satisfaction is very important to us. If anyone has any problems with Z1 product or service please PM me here and I'll see that it gets taken care of.

I don't know what your position is within Z1, but beleive me the problems that I have encountered trying to convince your company that one of the supplied turbos had failed after just 450 miles, has been 'unbelievable', in fact my mechanic Jimmer who spends a lot of money with you was 'devastated' by your response, as he thought that he had built up a good working relationship with JT (Johnny Turbo). What a misconception that turned out to be, as the first sign of a problem, Mr Turbo evaporates and no longer answers the phone or returns calls.Shawn come on the scene and quickly hands me over to some guy from the turbo company who starts telling me to modify the oil feed pipes. I'm glad I did not listen to him as the engine would have been coming out for a third time and further costs involved. Your very well constructed website, does not portray the reallity of your poor if non existant customer service.

Quick bump

I am thinking of ordering some parts from across the pond - Old Zed did you get things sorted with Z1?

I sent an email to Z1, they never even replied.

At which point I gave up having decided that if they cant reply to an email what chance if something goes wrong? Posts on this thread seem to confirm it.
