Hi Peeps,

My mate has sadly (jammy bastard) bought a Skyline R32 GTR. I have had the scary experience of being in this car with Pete from SE when burning around country lanes in Maldon.

I am impressed with it's performance however what do I need to do to beat this car. I am sure my Z will take it out on the A12.

But wot about these twisty ESSEX bends??

Any guys with Z VS Skyline experiences??

I would appreciate the input.

Ta

I would recommend driving School mate.

Also some Traction control, Bigger Brakes, Shox Springs, front and rear torsion bars.

and N20 :)

Never had any experience witha R32, but R33's are dam agile around the twisties and you will have difficulty beating one given that the drivers are of equal skill.

A Z can be nearlly as agile given the correct setup and driver however you would not have as much control as the skyline, so i wouldn't recommend pushing it too far on public roads coz if something were to come the other way ....

Eddie,

Only one way to woop a GTR of any shape, form or size...and that is...buy a GTR and hope you're a better driver than the other guy.

Sorry, Z and GTR not even in the same ball park!

Correction, there is another way(spoken in a sick and twisted Yoda voice!)...

Buy yourself an R1 bearing in mind that a Caterham can match the lap times of an R1, I rest my case...

See ya GeeZer

[-)

Put some water in his fuel tank. You will suddenly find yourself with an easy overtaking opportunity. I doubt he would catch up with you after that LOL.

buy a mclaren f1 , that should do the trick

Howdy,

Nico, suspenion & geometry mods will be my next choice I think.

Anders, your idea is pretty good. If get despirate I can stick some Evian in his tank 8-)

What I am more interested in now is wether the Skyline has inherited the Z's reliablity.

Despite just parting with 700 quid for various Z bits I shall try and make it to MK meet this Sunday.

See ya

Hi,

I can't understand why Nissan didn't wrap the Skyline engine and 4 wheel drive technology in bodywork more suitable...ie:Z32 style bodywork.

as much as everyone raves about the skyline including our ginger friend i think they're shite and would if pushed only have the r33 it may be the doggies danglies with handling en all but for that kind of wonga you could get a second hand lambo or ferrari and as its a lifelong ambition of mine to drive one that is mine i'll stick to my dreams lol

Eddie - good choice.

The Z is as equally powerfull a the skyline -if not more so without spending silly money. So up to about 550RWHP you should be able to hang with him without spending more than about 5K.

The place where the skyline will get ya is the traction, which on those things is just silly, i think that is why some many people love them, untill you have felt that pull it is hard to understand the interest. The Z will always be a traditional Rear wheel drive sports car and handle that way. Saying that the car in stock form is designed to handle well at speed upwards of 120, that is when the super HICAS really comes into its own, However acclerating hard out of corners will always be a test of nerve and skill for the Z driver.

JEZ, the skyline and Z design teams in Nissan are two completely seperate entity's and if you believe the rumours are very competive with each other to make the best car. The Z team did evaluate using the 4 wheel drive system that went into the syline for the Z32 however rejected the idea due to the fact that it needed a good 2 inches more ride height to accomodate. Not good for a sports car.

Tooley, only 60K for a second hand Diablo these days - keep saving (altho them 8K cam belts are a bit harsh i think ! )

try this site www.vtec.net and have a look at this honda nsx take out a skyline of the mark, it is quite interesting, basically i also dont like the skyline and would rather have my z anyday.

like they say you dont go out wiht a fat chick just cause she knows how to f*&k, lol

Not too mention those 4500 squid major services where the whole engine has to come out on Ferraris.

No wonder every time you see a Ferrari more than two or three years old they've still only covered about 1000 miles.

What's the point in owning a car like that if you don't cain the crap out of it on a daily basis to work and back...sad!

But hey, I wouldn't say NO!

Just after getting the JWT and de-cat I chased an R34 Gtr up a dual carrige way for a few miles. It had the loudest biggest exhaust i have ever seen I couldnt even hear my car.We were accelerating from around 60 to 130 everytime the the cars in the fast lane would pull in and he couldnt get an inch away from me. We all know the skyline is a superior car in some ways but ive got a Z cos I want one, if I had wanted a skyline I would have bought one .

Zed's Rock!

Hi guys,

Z's are awesome cars and it only costs me 600 quid to insure.

I had a quote for an R34 GTR from the same company and it was 1700.

The R34 is good but I am not going to pay nearly 3 time the insurance for that.

I gonna definatly stick with the Z even if it costs me 700 quid every few weeks on repairs.

I shall have to get an official oppinion of Pete @ SE. He took me out in an R33 GTR the other day but was a bit vague on his opinion. All he said was that the "GTR Flatters The Driver's Driving Ability".

Pete if you read this post please offer an opinion as I know you have driven all version of these cars.

the r32 is suposed to be alot more gripy and faster 0-60 and about the same as the z or that is what i herd
