They can fine you but can't touch your license. Was working with a guy from Ireland a couple of years back..he had both a uk and irish license...make sure that if you have to produce you documents, that you produce the irish license.

 

This was about 5 years ago mind...

great, irish licence is the only 1 i have,

I thought the irish traffic light sequence was Red and yellow and blue and green,

What the police do if they catch you sppeding etc is they record the points against your name and if you tot up to over 12 points they will ban you from driving on uk roads.

 

Likewise they can still ban you from driving on uk roads if they deem your driving to be dangerous.

Most have been answered already.......

 

..........but as for carrying your licence, I believe you have to if you are a "non-uk" resident but us "locals" do not have to;)

 

We just get given a "producer" if stopped - ie we must produce our licence in person at any police station of our choice within 7 days. In fact I have been told by a couple of police types NOT to give them my licence at the time of stopped; in some cases it could be deemed as an admission of guilt!
