I am wanting to fit higher rated bulbs for main beam. I know they will run hotter and might not last as long but what will the wiring take? I have a '91 Jap TT

I understand the wires are not a problem its the bulb holder that tends to melt.

I fitted 100W bulbs and they were blowing every couple of weeks or so. Then the wiring started to melt...

I stuck with modified 30% brighter H1's - they're acceptable. Bear in mind that many of the 100w bulbs chuck out less than a genuine 100w and if the reflector is shite and points the light in the wrong direction it doesn't really matter what type of bulb you have.

This is all very true.

I just want someone to tell me it's OK to fit a 1KW stadium lighting system so I can drive flat out all the time and blind small fry that get in my way.

For info, SE-Nissan are developing a twin headlight conversion. In early design stages but I should think it could end up being a popular conversion ...
