thinking of getting a bike licience as zed not fast enough

put boost jets in zed, have JWT chip, HKS airintake and straight through exhaust, and to be honest i'm a bit dissapointed, the pull i was expecting from going to about 14psi was not that good...or i'm not actually running at 14psi. will install boost controller soon now i know where to put the cable (cheers Jay) and see then whether it makes a differnce. pissed off, thought it was going to be a lot better.

Steve,

Don't give up just yet, I basically went the same way as you with upgrades and noticed a big difference. Get the boost controller in!!

Steve,

I drove SimonH's car with 14psi but this was via a ECU *AND* Valve controller - I reckon if you install your EVC it will give you the extra you expected.

Simon's car was very responsive, more so than (the then) my Zed running Stock boost.

My Skyline is running 14psi too and that and the Zed are very similar in a straight line but the difference between 9psi Zed and 14psi RB26 is phenomenal, stick with it and get the valve controller installed bud! smile.gif

Sounds to me Steve that something is not right frown.gif

Before I fitted my boost controler I had boost jets and could pull away from a GSXR 750 above 100mph.

You can't be running at 1 bar mate?????

KEEP IT SIDEWAYS BABY!

will fit the boost controller tomorrow, just hope it makes a difference. a few years back i had a R5 GT TURBO and i boosted that machine up and gee!!! what a difference between stock and modified! i am hoping to get a similar increase in me zed.!

I have to agree with Iain, if your running 14psi, & you 'aint happy with it, something might be out!

I sold a w reg 'GSF 1200' because it was dull compared to the grunt of my Z. And the Z's had toys since!

I'm sure if you state your (makes & models) of bits, one of the wise men here will say more!

From personal experiance, refit new 'O' rings in the ballance bar, re-clip every vacume hose, take off & seal intercooler & plenum pipes with soap tight, & the connector to the plenum on the n/s of the engine - check to see its been sealed with PTFE tape or thread lock.

As a man once said, loose air is lost 'LBS'

harve

harve, wats the o rings in balance bar?

first time ive heard this 1!

do u no if there is any tech docs or HOW 2'S

on this

thanks jay

spoke to speed turkey today

dont forget guys he has only ever done 4k miles in his zed and not had it long

its not as if hed been driving it ages ,a yr or 2.then got his chip and jets(WHICH

IS WHEN YA WOULD BE USED TO IT AND FIND THE JETS REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE)

i doubt if id of really thought a chip and boost jets made that much difference ,if id only had the car a short time

ste u think when i get A ecu CHIP and jets i'll beat the land speed record,(SPEEDFREAK!!)

I'LL SEND YA A GOOSE HONK I MADE EARLIER!

THAT SHOULD SCARE THE LIFE OUTA YA?

There are 3 O rings fitted between the balance bar and the plen.

They are there to stop air leaking, between two metal contacts.

Did you do the boost jets yourself or did someone else do them?

Worth checking them if someone did it for you cos there are some people who havnt got a clue wtf they are doing.

Someone recently had a boost jet with a snapped drill bit in the hole fitted FFS frown.gif

Hi Steve.

When I first got my Z, I thought it was going to be rip-your-face-off fast, well, with 300+hp it should do really. But in reality, it never lived up to my expectations. Maybe with another 150+hp over stock it would feel fast for a car. But after a mate of mine took me on the back (OOERR!!) of his VTR1000, it really brings it home how slow cars are frown.gif.

Back to real world though, we just have to put up with 4 seats and a boot to put shopping in. Just not possible on a bike.

So if you want ultimate speed, a bike it is.

If you want a bit of speed and a lot more practicality, a Zed it is then.

Don't forget, we have got 2 turbos and 6 gorgeous sounding cylinders biggrin.gif & 2 targa panels.

Maybe not such a bad deal after all.

Regards

Robert.

I only use the brakes so I can accelerate all over again.
